Some advice please ....OK so having made the decision to sort out my Dispatch, cam belt, front breaks and new alternator... today I get a call from the garage to say they think an injector has failed. I have no idea what to do. They say it's difficult to work out which injector has failed. Can any one on here help. I had a quick look and they seem REALLY expensive!

My wiper works OK on normal and fast but not intermittent. Can anyone point me to where I should start looking to sort this?

Thanks again

Richard.

One point on the glow plugs, I hear rumour of a possible issue where the glow plug ECU fails, it never shuts them off so they stay on forever. If that's the case they'd quickly burn out.

Get a multimeter on the plugs and see if there's a voltage on them about 10 minutes after starting

I've also read that the timing could be slightly out and runs fine once warm because the electronics sort it out?

Thanks Ken for the quick reply...Yeah I'd be surprised if it was the head as its been the same for a year+ and not got any worse. I had the glow plugs replace a year ago so unless I've a faulty one it should rule that out. I've booked the cam belt
for monday. Fingers x'ed. I love the van, it's been brilliant!

Hi,

This is my first post on here so Hello from Somerset :-)

My 2003 1.9D Dispatch in smoking when cold and running a bit lumpy. One it's warmed up after 5 mins or so it runs fine and the smoke clears. It's been like this for at least a year or so. My mec has had it in and noticed there is some oil in the expansion tank. I'm not losing any water, there's no sign of water in the oil and it doesn't over heat. My mec thinks it's either a crack in the head, head gasket or a failed injector. But he's not sure.  It'd due a cam belt service so wanted to see if anyone can throw anymore light on it before I stump up the cash to do the cam belt. It's a great van and has served me well so happy to spend a few quid if need be to get it sorted.

Richard.
