Tightening loose seat rails?

I got an advisory on loose seat rails last MOT and as I have the seats out I thought I would see if I can do anything.

Is there anyway to tighten them up at all or do they need replacing?

I was thinking of nipping the channels a bit in a vice.

Re: Tightening loose seat rails?

Your sliding rails? If so there is a bolt front back of each one holding them to the base and you can also take them off from the seat so i presume another four bolts facing upway. Is this not what MOT man means?

Re: Tightening loose seat rails?

I think they are worn loose.  It's not the actual fixings but the sliding rails.

Being part of the bed and also swiveling they get a lot of use.  Get hold of the top of the seat back and shake and there is quite a lot of movement in all directions.  Feels and sounds worse than it is I suspect.

If I can't adjust it out I will bolt them down rigid for the next MOT.  Is that allowed?
