Daylight running lights?

Been on my todo list, and since we will be heading to some countries where they are compulsary, I've started to look in earnest.
It would appear that cheapo eBay kits are not necessarily marked with the approvals (ECE R87 ?). Also they usually seem to be fitted on brackets inside the bumper grille, a maximum of 400mm from the sides of the vehicle - which seems impossible on the Expert.

Has anyone fitted these?

Re: Daylight running lights?

No idea if they fit the E marking requirement (probably not) ....Been looking at these (cheapo eBay) .....Thought they might fit in bumper fog light recess

Is it still compulsory if your vehicle doesn't require them and therefore road legal because of age in it's country of registration ?....IE, We have a 1958 A35 Austin that doesn't require/have seat belts (although if fitted must comply) , mot or "DRL's .... Still has the ability to have trafficators fitted and I don't see why it's not able  to travel abroad if so wished

Re: Daylight running lights?

Ah yes the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. Doesn't help much when you are being given an on the spot fine because the local police feel like it. I think I'll give up on the DRLs since there is no way of telling if driving with "dipped headlights" means exactly that, or if DRLs will suffice. It's an odd situation, when the EU couldn't get agreement, so they forced the manufacturers to install them anyway. I'll just use the headlights - but might put a relay in to switch them on automatically.
