New Van

Well a little while ago I replaced my 2003 peugeot expert with a newer 2008/9 model. This time I've gone with the long wheel base high roof. We've had a few little teething issues mainly being the gearbox was shot, so having replaced that its now time to start on the path of a few more little modifications. These been:

1) New double din Kenwood head unit, incorporating DVD player, bluetooth handsfree and reverse camera.
2) Daytime Running Lights.
3) Roof Rack.

Not a very extensive list at the moment but I do keep thinking of things to add to the list, and depending on how things work wise go over the next 6 months or so it may well end up as a camper conversion!

I'll take some pictures of the things as I do them and hopefully upload as a little guide for anyone who wants to do something similar.

Re: New Van

Well so far on the upgrades I've put in the double DIN headunit, pictures to follow once I've finished doing the reverse camera. Installed the DRL light units where the front fog lights would normally live, but I've yet to wire them up as been to busy with work. What I have done completely is replace the existing aerial which has been allowing water in, as it was not seating properly.

To fit the new aerial it is necessary to remove the storage shelf above the cab, this is straight forward to completed by removing 4 clips it then slides straight out. It was necessary to use the old angle grinder to remove the old aerial as rust had set in making it a pain in the arse to remove the nut. Once out it was necessary to enlarge the hole and square it off in order for the new aerial to mount correctly.

Re: New Van

Well the time has come to choose the alloy wheels  big_smile  the question is which shall I go for? I've 2 in mind, both shown on the picture below. I welcome any comments on which suits better as I can't decide, might have to flip a coin  lol

Re: New Van

Today's job - fit the new wing mirror covers. These were brought via ebay see the link below:

MK2 Wing Mirror Cover

Wing Mirror Cover

Unfortunately these are designed to be clipped into place, but as my van didn't come with these from the factory they required a slight modification. Out came the dremel to remove the tabs on the rear of the wing mirror covers and now a perfect fit. So, they come ready primed which meant I only needed to give it a few coats of Peugeot Bianca white from good old Halfords and then some clear lacquer. As the clips are gone I've used some good adhesive to attach them to the wing mirrors. I think they look pretty good.

"I was going to say" ...At first I was  betwixt with you on choice of Rims and almost immediately when you announced your choice, I'd gone with the 5 spoke wheel.... but now I see them on the van rather than the mock up they look far far better..... However ...... There's always a However..... I admit to being lazy when I comes to cleaning wheels to the manner their looks deserve.... but that's me..... But your van really does suit the multi-spoke ... that's a nice wheel... Right choice now I see them fitted

Re: New Van

Hi Vaz, cheers. The mock up really doesn't do either of them justice, I find mock-ups rarely do! I do like the 5 spoke but don't like to see to much of the brakes!!

As for cleaning I with you! I've given them a coat of autoglym wheel protector, as it helps with cleaning the brake dust off, so hopefully a clean with the jetwash and sponge should keep them looking good. Must admit they do sparkle quite nicely in the sun, when we have some  big_smile
