Simple bed made from futon

Simple frame made from Sterling board, the bed folds out and sits on the wheel arches.
I wanted something that I could remove if I needed to.
A bit of storage under the futon seat for bedding, food etc.
(Sorry the photos are sideways, I'm amazed I managed to upload them!)

Re: Simple bed made from futon

I like simple futons. MIne lifts for under seat storage and folds forward for double bed.

Cheers Casper, you seem to have done a lot to your big van.
I did a Relay a couple of years ago but wanted something a bit smaller for day to day use.

Relay, Ducato or Boxer is what i was after but they were all crap looking builders van when the time came. IF you know what you are dong with keeping the water out and welding then these old Convoys are great vans to convert. Everyone was saying stay away but i kept getting drawn to them when looking at vans so thought, sod it and bought one.  big_smile  My Expert was just a tad to small for us and the dog. If the LWB was available in the UK i may have looked into getting one of those and building up.

I must admit that I only realised there was a long wheelbase version when I was ordering my exhaust. True, I've never seen a LWB Jumpy etc in this country. They would be worth a go!

Re: Simple bed made from futon

Wow!
Did they do a version with the extension panel between the side door and the front door?
The possibilities with that would be boundless

Re: Simple bed made from futon

Yes WOW.

I would love one of those.  I am finding the expert the best size van for my sort of use I have ever had.  Just that extra few cubic meters would be very welcome though.  Well worth putting up with the extra wheelbase for.

Wouldn't want to go back to anything wider, both mirrors pruning hedges through the lanes of Wales last month.

Alas, sadly only LHD for the Euro market, would that be correct?
