How heavy a load can you put in the back and how heavy is your van also what is your train weight? Thinking of self employed and another expert ro equivalent is a perfect size. Having the ability to move a tonne of rubbish would be ace. Cheers

Having a look at my handbook you should have 815 kg payload in a 1.9d van and 900kg with an 2.0HDI although dependent on van spec train weight varies very slightly......In the handbook
(GVW) gross vehicle weight is for the 815kg van is 2,205kg.... (GTW) gross train weight is 3,305kg.......... So yes so long as you satisfy yourself with these figures the 1.9d van with a braked trailer and possibly with a large unbraked trailer dependent on its payload capacity is able to muster a combined load weight of over a metric tonne and the 2.0HDI's able to be slightly better
P.S. I think you may find within your 815kg/900kg payload you'll need to factor in that a full tank of diesel, you and your passenger, tools etc are integral within and eat into the payload availability (sorry folk can easily forget or misunderstand this bit)

Cheers Vaz. Its not often i would have that load. Its garden tool mostly i would have in the back and its only once every so often i have that kind of weight to tip. I have been getting a lot of driveway work so luckily the new chips or whatever get delivered but you still end up with a tonne of crap to bin at the end of the day so handy to know i can. Having to use my LDV at present so its a lot of tarps down but due to what i have built in its not practical to continue using that van.
