This forum needs HTTPS

Logging in at the moment sends the password in plain text so it can be intercepted. Could we get HTTPS added?

I'm willing to offer some help setting it up if needed

Hoy there is a queue. Im still waiting for open link in new window/tab  big_smile

Apparently there is an update of the software. Not sure if it helps with the HTTPS issue but it was talked about before.

Re: This forum needs HTTPS

You're both absolutely spot on:

kenbw2 - The forum will move to a new host very soon at which point we will be adding HTTPS / SSL certificate. Many thanks for your offer of help - that's much appreciated.
Casper - I see you've just passed the 1000 posts mark! To celebrate - I'll see if I can hack this old beast to open external links in a new tab :-)

The software we currently run on is no longer developed (although security patches are still offered when appropriate) - however the plan is still to migrate to Flarum (being developed by the same people) once it's out of BETA. It looks good and promises a migration route from the software we're on right now which will make life a LOT easier than if we were to migrate to other platforms.

Really pleased with how this forum has grown over the years (at least 33% Casper's doing!) and I do want to provide a better environment for our users - as soon as Flarum is live I'll set about it.

Ta muchly for the feedback  big_smile

Re: This forum needs HTTPS

Cant remember if i asked before but why pay for software when the traffic is not that high. The free forums are ace for small forums. I was playing about with this a few moth back and it seems great for the money lol

Cheers Casper - Flarum is free & open-source smile and the migration route makes that platform very attractive. It looks like it will come out of BETA this year. Only thing I pay for here is hosting and the adverts cover that.

You have adverts big_smile I presumed this was a pay for software. Look forward to the change over. Miss not having a thumbs up smilley lol

BTW do you still do the Festivals? Was thinking in the stars align at the right time we could squeeze in a couple and this ticked my fancy

https://www.knockengorroch.org.uk/

Would two people who spend more of there time listening to rock/prog/reggie/blues enjoy this. Kids, i dont do kids yet dont mind them being at festivals but at night i prefer them to be under control and not running around wild while the parents are getting wellied in the beer tent. Do you think its the place for us? lol

Sorry Casper - Meant to reply to this ages ago - not been to so many in recent years - but I was a stalwart at Knockengorroch for a decade - didn't miss a single one.

It's a properly special place / event and I can't recommend it enough. It's always been based around world / folk / electronic / reggae - so you've got one box ticked at least smile - but I'd say go anyway - great vibe, good people, nae trouble.

You'll love it.

I now live really close so I might make it this year ..........
