Re: My Scudo conversion.

Fitted the taxi doors today. Just need to take the decals off and change the locks over, so they are on the same key. Will need to sort the bit of bodywork behind the doors and have the doors themselves painted.
I also had to do a temp fix on the exhaust as a hanger had rotted clean off, leaving a hole half way up the exhaust.
Last weekend I got the cambelt, waterpump and tensioner done and had a oil and filter change, so that's another job off the list.
I apologise for the vans dirty appearance, this is because I haven't had chance to clean it as it has been used for work.
It has done 2400 miles since a week last Monday.

How many bloody cars does one man need  tongue Still got the taxi i see. The vent in the middle to the left of the clocks. Is it in one piece and working? If so i need and the roof Ariel. Not just the whip but the base also what means pulling out the light i think.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Only the van, the taxi and the MGF are ours. The other cars are our next door neighbours. The taxi is going on Saturday morning, but is being replaced on the drive by a VW Lupo for the wife.
I will check for the bits you requested tomorrow and get a price for you.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Casper,

The dash vent must be a common problem, as the one in the taxi is broken as is the one in my van.
The van also doesn't have a roof aerial for some reason.
Sorry about that.

Ah. Aeriel would be taken out for taxi sign and hole used for sign wiring.  OK Cheers anyway.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Not a lot going on at the moment due to the weather, but I have managed to swap the locks on the slide doors over and bought two new door locator guides, which have made the door fit a bit more snug. I have also removed the taxi signs
The locks were not as straight forward as I thought. I was hoping to just swap the handles and keep the gubbins that came with the door, but it had all been bodged badly with string and cable ties. On top of that it still contained the motion locking mechanisms, which needed disabling. I had to drill out the rivets holding the mechanisms in on both doors and swap them over. I took me a bit longer than I had hoped, but it all works fine and was a bit more daunting in prospect, than in reality.
I have bonded the ply floor in place and am just waiting for a dry day to cut the vinyl flooring to shape. Then the interior panels can be fitted and it wont be far off done then.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Been too busy working to get much done. I have purchased a roof rack for the van, so I don't have to put too much work related stuff in the back.
I also need to motivate myself a bit more to go out and do stuff. I have the flooring to put in the van, but it is up at our unit and is buried at the back, so I keep putting it off. The end of the week should be a bit more quite, so maybe I will have some updates over the weekend.
I like what you did for the bed. Looks proper. Hopefully we get enough sun this year to make it all worthwhile!

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Well, I eventually got the flooring from the unit and fitted it. I could have taken my time and done a better job, but I am happy enough with the results. Just needs a clean as I kept walking mud into it!
Just need to start fitting the panels after I have wired the lights and speakers up.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Hi Tiree,

Its at a standstill at the moment due to a breakdown. A small piece of metal pipe coming out of the thermostat housing had corroded from the inside over the years and finally let go about a week ago. Fortunately I was only 2 mins from home when it went. Ive tried finding some replacement pipe of the correct diameter, but without luck and trying to find a replacement thermostat housing is proving tricky. Its annoying as I use the van for work and am having to use the car instead. Once it is sorted though, I shall be booking it in at a bodyshop for the doors, bumpers and wheels to be painted.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

I sorted the problem by using some high temp plastic joining pipe. I had to slim down the end that went in to the thermostat housing, but it seems to be working fine now.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Well, I thought that was the end of my cooling problems. The system isnt leaking from the pipe I replaced, there is now a intermittent leak from the front nearside, just behind the bumper. I have taken the van out twice, gone back to it and there has been a puddle of coolant under the van. The low coolant light has come on both times also. To make things more complicated, I took the van to the garage for them to take a look and guess what? It didnt leak all the time they had it. It also hasn't leaked since getting it back. So now I don't feel like taking it too far in case it starts leaking. Will have to see how it goes.
Oh the joys of motoring!

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Not had a need to lok at teh radiator and hoses but of anything like the 306 its a shit design. Lower exit pipe goes into the front inner wing (Drivers side) and out the back on the same side. What not just run it up the bay, Bloody French. I had two 306's fail where the exit pipe came out the radiator. One was the (Again) shit design retaining clip and the other being the joint. Does the van grill not come off easy so you can get a better look for any water marks.

Wow. Just looked at euro car parts at radiator prices. Shit myself £202.99  big_smile however they have a cheap one at £72.99 but they also have the crappy retaining clip system to hold the hose on. Also with my 306 there was two different fittings. I bought a radiator only to find i had the wrong hose. sad

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Just finished doing the final fix on the wheel arch trim, door trim and floor. Just having sliding door cards to make and the interior should be finished.
Waiting to hear back from the paintshop for a price and when they can get it done also.
Unfortunately, the ikea bed is a little to wide for the wheel arch trims, so I am going to make one instead.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Both sets were not great and the original cards are made from hardboard, not ply and I prefer ply.

Is it the bed legs or bed frame that fouls the wheel arch plastics.

Was wondering if you could raise it by couple inches by mounting it on blocks and or extending legs in-order to clear arch

Or a combination of both

Re: My Scudo conversion.

I could do, but I have an idea for a semi removable bed that will allow me to have storage for the cooker and fridge I was going to use in the van, save having to take them out every time the bed is out.

Re: My Scudo conversion.

Yeah I see your point........Was just the fact you already had a bed to save you going down another route...... And if you jacked the Ikea bed up you'd get clearance issues for sitting on it,  if fridge/cool box ETC went underneath across front behind seats when bed was extended ?.......

Re: My Scudo conversion.

If you still intend to use your cooker, sink pod can you modify it to whip off and reattach legs easily an it fit under extended bed?

Re: My Scudo conversion.

The cooker/sink pod has detachable legs and wheels on the base, making it easier to slide in and out.
