My Citroen Dispatch stealth-camper

Kicking off this thread to encourage myself to get more photos up of my van.

It's been with me through 25k miles, 2.5 years and a timing belt disaster (another story I need to tell!)

I sometimes get a bit jealous of some of the bright & airy camper conversions I see going on around here - mine pretty much still looks like an off-the-shelf white van from the outside .... (here we are at Kilncadzow, Lanarkshire a couple of weeks back) ...

DSC_0360-1000.jpeg

But that was always the plan. I spend as much time visiting cities, towns and villages as I do camping wild so being stealthy makes town-dwelling a breeze  big_smile

Inside though it's a proper cosy nest and has been a great wee home for 50 or 60 happy nights.

More soon ...

At the Rest and Be Thankful

Another advantage of not having windows is having a full-wrap insulation inside smile

Haaha! Such a great spot isn't it?  smile

Only time I've ever thought the van might actually blow over was up there .. positive I was close to being on two wheels at one point!

Brilliant... You can't beat it, Dodging around the west coast..... You've got the right idea for hiding in plain sight .... we're not to bad as camper looks go and have started to compile a list of our more favored stealth stop overs

Cheers. Always looking for somewhere new. The A84 North i have never looked further inland towards the West or south from Oban. I did go up the A82 but again i was heading north. You being more West than me would travel that area more as we tend to just head up the Trossachs (A84 From Stirling) to get to Oban or further North. My forst long weekend when the van is ready will be back up the A82 and playing in the general area then more north on other weekends is the wife has never been further up than the Green Welly shop or Oban for a ferry to Mull.

Re: My Citroen Dispatch stealth-camper

That's the spot. I've never stopped overnight there - but there's nothing to stop you doing so.

It can get some pretty mental weather!

20 minutes up the road and you're at Inveraray. Park up outside the Inveraray Jail museum and spend the evening in great company in the brilliant bar at the George Hotel.

Re: My Citroen Dispatch stealth-camper

I'll go along with Tiree ... I've never stopped here over night either you'll get blown off view point, only couple miles further on towards Inveraray tour coach (July, August ?15) got blown off road... I too prefer Inveraray, and on towards Ardrishaig or even Tighnabruaich (Argylls Secret Coast)

Casper:.... If heading across Rannoch Moor and over Ballachulish Bridge (A82) almost half way from there to Fort William
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@56.74188 … 6656?hl=en

A favorite of ours and we've got under height restriction with top box on..... that is if you/we haven't just parked up somewhere across Glen Coe

Re: My Citroen Dispatch stealth-camper

There is a hotel in Onich just up the road from the bridge. Funny its called the Onich Hotel. Drinks out the back on the lawn are amazin as its a sun trap and the lawn slops into the loch with fantastic views. Think the hotel has went all upmarket now but worth a visit even for a afternoon tea.

Was this the chance you'd been waiting for to test the effectiveness of your Insulation?       wink

No but what i did do was nop doon in the morning and see if i was 100% water tight. Glad to say i am. The ridges for the sliding windows is quite deep and i was thinking all the snow would block the drain vents but all was in order.

Just one week later - mutt & me arrive early for a wee folk festival in Dumfries & Galloway - glorious warm sunshine for most of the weekend!

Re: My Citroen Dispatch stealth-camper

I was petting one of those yappie wee bas****s today. Do they ever shut up? This is a old burd i do a bit gardening for. That and my neighbors last one did not need much excuse for a bark.

Judging by the loos in the background there were not expecting large crowds then. Dylan not on the bill.  big_smile  Cant wait to get away in mine for a weekend trial. Looks like it may just be me and the dug as the wife is working most weekends.

Got my bed working as it should. Just a couple of units, soft furnishings and almost good to go.

BTW. I had to add the video tags as the link on the toolbar would not accept the url

No me either. I scrounged them off my mum. I would not give them the money. B&M is no bad for the odd bargain and the range is another. Actually got some nice tin mugs from B&M the other week. 2 for £5 i think it was. Tesco also had camping chairs for £7 two for £10. They had the bottle holder or they had cheaper without the holder.
