Thanks! So basically attach the earth cable with a nice strong screw/bolt to the metal floor or side frame?
Just looking at getting one of these kits for our van project
https://www.cjvandesigns.co.uk/product/ … ok-up-kit/
Is there a specific location on the Scudo to attach the earth wire?
thanks,
This is amazing! Great to see all of the work - I'm learning a lot. Thanks
Thanks for help on this. I've had another look under the bonnet and I think I've spotted a leaky area, just to the left of the air filter box..
Is that the crank case breather pipe?

From right
and from front

Thanks for your reply. That’s useful.
I’ll perhaps put the van on ramps. I have 2tonne ramps, think they’ll be fine. And given engine a bit of a clean.
Any suggestions on products to use for cleaning engine etc.
Hi everyone
Firstly, thanks to everyone who have helped me so far, as I convert a 2003 2.0JTD into a little camper for spring.
So far.
I’ve stripped and cleaned the van and changed the the brakes (discs and pads) and had the garage change brake pipes and so it’s MOT. It’s now got 12 months MOT and I’m ready to move onto the next job. Board and insulate.
But before I do that I’ve noticed that when I put the blowers on I sometimes get a dirty oily smell. Not all the time, but when the van is stopped and idling and when it’s on warm it’s more noticeable. Sometimes on the motorway. It reminds me of what the heaters on an old diesel bus used to smell like in the 80’s.
Any ideas?
I’ve scrubbed the cabin and it smells lovely until I start driving and then smells a bit dirty.
Where does the air come in from outside? Is it just below the windscreen? Anything I can do as a DIY’r?
I’ve read that sometimes the oil may need changing - as I’ve only just got the van I can’t be sure, but I think it was changed 9 months ago and only done 3k since then.
Had a look in engine bay and underneath and can’t see any leaks.
Thanks for reading.
Many thanks.
Hi everyone
Does anyone have a photo showing the location of the jacking point on the front of a Scudo?
I have a trolley jack, but want to be sure I'm jacking up the van at the right point.
thank you.
Thanks kenbw2, I think you are right - from what I can tell by searching the web, I think it's a diesel fuel cooler.
Used to cool fuel returning to the tank - and therefore reduce chances of condensing, causing excess moisture.. Which I'm guessing isn't great for fuel pumps / injectors?
Anyway I think its just two hose clips, so I'll take a closer look and see if it can be cleaned and secured.
Thanks again.
Thanks Casper. Yes, it's very dirty, I agree with you. Only just got the van, so giving it a good clean.
From what you said, I think it's the oil radiator. It wobbles a little so wondering if the brackets have rusted and hence the cable ties.
Assuming I can just hose this down as best I can and see if I can clean it? Pull out the rest of the gunk.. Perhaps someone can recommend a good cleaning product for underneath? Thank you.
Hi everyone
This is my first post - spent a good few hours yesterday reading previous posts. Some really great stuff here. I'm glad I found it.
Got a 2003 Fiat scudo, 2.0 diesel - Can you tell me what this is, just behind the n/s wheel arch. Radiator/matrix? Looks like the bracket is a bit wobbly and has been secured using cable ties??

thanks
