Hey all, thanks for the replies..

@pathfinder I did consider the driving without stopping, but just my luck I would stall in the middle of a huge junction or something!
@vaz2121 They filled pretty slowly, so I ruled it out somewhat
@casper I ordered a crank sensor, I think I'll keep it handy, or even fit it as a precaution, cant harm!
@cliffo had a look at that, its so great that people always seem to come back to post the resolution.. so i'm doing the same!

Quick update!

After being let down by another mechanic, and a 'diagnostic technician'.. who killed my starter motor cranking the car for 2-3 minutes at a time apparently..  I decided to have a go myself at it.

I replaced the starter motor, and it starts like a dream now.

Now I think back, its never cranked as fast as this, and always been slow starting, and I remember seeing some smoke from the starter at times. As I was changing it, I also noticed the heat shield was missing from under the starter.

Now, I'm not sure wether the new starter has masked the issue (By achieving a high pressure easier) or it was actually the cause (Hot engine heats up the starter a bit, binding it more and slowing it down.. which was certainly happening, was cranking slower when hot) But, at least now I'll get on holiday, and can maybe get it checked out more when I'm back.

My first starter motor change, Im proud of myself! (Will fit a heatshield somtime too!)

(Also a Crank sensor, cam sensor and fuel pressure regulator just turned up in the post haha)

Hello All,

I have a Peugeot Expert 2.0 Hdi Van, 2002.
Won't start when warm. everything else seems fine, Starts cold, and drives normal until stop, then can't restart.. it just turns over, occasionally firing but never quite starting. Always starts when cold (Say I leave it for 1-2hours)

Firstly,I had a mechanic plug in diagnostics and Got diagnostics codes (Cleared and these keep coming back) and here's what he said they meant.

p00c8 - Fuel pressure regulator control solenoid - open circuit
p00cc - Fuel quantity adjuster - circuit low

He advised to change the fuel pressure regulator on the pump. changed it this morning with one from scrapyard, same fault remains, and also uneven revving after doing that, a kind of 'pulsing' in revs. (Worth noting engine just turns when this is disconnected, doesn't even almost start. So something must be coming from it) I replaced it with the old one again.

Next I suspected that there was not enough fuel pressure due to excessive leak-off, so I did a leakoff test. I couldn't start it while warm obviously, but I cranked it through 2 full batteries for a few minutes, and all bottles were an equal leak-off so I've ruled that out for now.

so far..  I'm about 200 quid down on diagnosis, scrap parts and tools and still can't start it!

Any Ideas?

P.s. I'm not experienced with this, I'm doing it myself because no mechanics are available and I'm supposed to be going on Holiday in the vehicle on Tuesday!

My next steps are to maybe replace the starter motor (I feel like cranking seems a little slow and underpowered even with a full battery) And replace the crank and cam sensor.
