Thanks Pathfinder, I ran it with the airbox and MAF removed! So doubt it's that, let's just say it's so hot the rad cooling fan cut in! It now just gets up to temperature and beyond when running to the point of stalling, which I suspect is the engine close on seizing. Top and bottom rad hoses both at the same temperature to the touch though!
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, just looking for a little assistance please. I started at the same place as Pathfinder, followed all activities as suggested by John, here's where I'm up to, oh I should say this is a Scudo 2.0 JTD
P0243 on a basic code reader.
Loss of power, occasional black smoke, engine gets hot, and then stalls, it does start knocking when it gets warm. (Diesel knock?)
Hoses checked, no visible splits or holes
MAF removed, no change.
Actuator solenoid vacuum removed, no change.
Actuator and EGR solenoids swapped, no change.
Any clues where to go next would be much appreciated please.
