Thanks for that! It has given me a glimmer of hope, and i will be getting in touch with a few garages today to see what they say.
Webuybrokenvans have offered £3500 as a non runner so I at least have some options now.
Cheers
Hi - I'm trying to get some answers as to why my expert van revs to maximum between gear changes?
It all started with me overfilling the engine with oil which caused a massive amount of oil to go all around the engine bay, underneath the vehicle and even up the back. I was driving and didn't realise the mess that was happening at the time. I steam cleaned everything thinking no more of it but then on a journey of about 25 miles, once the engine was hot, it started this over revving. I stopped and got the AA to tow me back to a local mechanic. After a couple of days of head scratching, he said it was breathing too heavily and on taking a breather pipe off and going for a very short test drive, the engine bay was once again covered in oil, Having discounted turbo problems, he came to the conclusion that there must be a crack somewhere in the engine, allowing oil under pressure to combust, causing the revving issue. However, I spoke to an ex peugeot engineer who said that a crack was extremely unlikely and that it was probably a split fuel injector. That company wanted £4000 to strip down and thoroughly clean the engine, and test and replace the fuel injector.
I couldn't afford that and no other local garages wanted to take it on, so had to SORN it over christmas and think about what to do in the new year.
I dont need the van anymore but still have thousands to pay on finance (the warranty has run out) so dont know whether to just try and sell it as a non runner or see if I can get a diagnosis and hopefully fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Matt
