#1 Re: General Discussion » Retrofitting Cruise Control to HDI/JTD DW10 (1997cc engine) » 2025-02-08 01:49:12

Hello, I know it's an old topic but stumbled upon it and wanted to encourage the random googler by saying that this is definitely doable.
I retrofitted CC to my 2001 HDi Jumpy/Dispatch a few (8?) years back. The switch below the vent is not really necessary, I was lazy and shorted the relevant contacts with a piece of a paperclip. You'd never use that switch after toggling it once, anyway. I used the original stalk from a 406, there is nothing fancy inside the stalk, see post #15. I bet you could emulate one with a few switches if need be. You also need the secondary switch for the brake pedal, it should work opposite to the brake light switch (i.e. normally open?). You can use pretty much any switch here with a little imagination, a reed switch and a small magnet on the pedal should work just fine. Don't forget the plastic grommet for the hole of the switch if yout get the original from a donor car. You can, of course, do without the grommet with a couple of zip ties or the like, but it is rather fiddly getting the distance right.

Just be warned, at least on my car (with the single long ECU connector, dunno about the newer three connector ECU) they had played a little prank with the wiring. All the relevant wiring was there inside the cabin, but one of the wires apparently terminated in the loom somewhere. Can't remember which wire, but I think it was present at the ECU end of the loom, too. So I had to run a new wire to meet the one at the ECU. The Peugeot wiring diagram software was invaluable while diagnosing this. PP2000 should tell you whether the ECU sees all relevant switching action, too, but at least I couldn't point out the fault beforehand. As said, you need to enable the CC in the ECU with Lexia. It might be doable with the ds150, too. Or any software you can use to mess with the ECU program code...

Oh, and you can also swap the gearbox from a compatible passenger car (I got one from the same 406 I took the stalk from) if you fancy longer gear ratios. IIRC, you only need to fabricate a new bracket for the gear lever cables, otherwise it is pretty straight-forward. The gear pattern will be upside down and mirrored, but that can be turned around without too much trouble.
