#1 Re: Maintenance » HDI MK2 wiring diagram » 2026-05-20 12:54:24

I have service box for the Expert which covers vehicles up to 2013
so as they are eseentially the same van with different badges the electrical
systems should be common thoughout.

The wiring diagram part does ask for an RPO number and engine type
The RPO number is on a sticker on the door pillar on mine and the diagrams I have
all seem relevant so far

#2 Re: General Discussion » Coolant loss from cap, maybe somwhere else? 2.0HDi » 2026-05-20 12:18:08

Ah!
It was kind going that way I suppose
We all tend to hope it's going to be something simple and easy to fix at first
until  reality kicks us in the arse.

Not going to try and tell you how to do the job, but would suggest you consider replacing the cam belt and water pump while you've got it apart.

BTW  I fitted one of those cheap Ebay remote cental locking gizmos the other day and it's working well
I'll put a post up about it here soon.

#3 Re: Maintenance » MOT fail? » 2026-05-13 15:47:31

Well I got the MOT today and the back box is no longer making the cab a bit whiffy
I also have a good spare stowed underneath just in case, so it's no longer taking up space inside the van
leaving me more room for the usual gubbins, odds and sods and piles of crap.  monkey

#4 Re: General Discussion » Are there wet belts in these vans? » 2026-05-13 15:36:29

I googled it and AI says
"Yes, many 2017 Citroën Dispatch (and Peugeot Expert) vans use a "wet belt" system, specifically within the 1.2L and 1.5L PureTech petrol engines.
However, if your 2017 Dispatch is a diesel (HDi), it generally uses a traditional dry timing belt rather than a wet belt system.

#5 Re: General Discussion » Coolant loss from cap, maybe somwhere else? 2.0HDi » 2026-05-10 18:05:23

It is a lot to lose so where we wonder, is it going?
Cracked cylinder wall or head or head gasket has to be considered
Also the egr and oil coolers could be an issue.

How is the heater? I had to fit a new core to mine as the old one was full of crap
so easy to get trapped air in there
Bleeding the system at the thermostat housing and top of the radiator took a few tries to get
the air out  too.

Goodluck with it, let us know how you get on

#6 Re: Maintenance » MOT fail? » 2026-05-09 12:28:57

Well it did fail on the exhaust and  a CV boot too, so not that bad for an old banger eh?
It's going in to be fixed on Tuesday and I'll hopefully soon have the old  thing road legal for another year.
BTW Exhaust back box section only £57 from Ebay so not painful.

#7 Re: General Discussion » Coolant loss from cap, maybe somwhere else? 2.0HDi » 2026-05-09 12:22:40

Hi Sam,
I have the same year Expert HDI with similar mileage 255k vs your 230k
Assuming/Hoping it isn't the head gasket....
So, it's Losing coolant over  500km/300miles.
Do you know how much it has lost in this period ?
How much do you need to add to get the level back to normal?

I can only make Guesses:
Expansion tank plastic structure or cap degrading and venting water vapour
slow leak on radiator/hoses or bleed screw at top of rad
slow leak around thermostat housing
I know from my own work there is a pipe behind the engine that goes from the engine block to the heater core
and this returns to the header tank
so any slight leaks here may not be easy to spot.

Sometimes if a head gasket is failing you'll get a somewhat sweet smell at the exhaust
from the antifreeze
I have experienced this on motor bikes which are obviously petrol engines so not so sure
if this is as noticeable on a diesel.

Thanks for your Youtube link, I have bookmarked it to be studied later
I have remote central locking which works via key but the Remote doesn't
the fob puts out RF but the van doesn't respond so have a cheap EBay keyfob remote system
I want to hack in after I get the MOT work done.

#8 Re: General Discussion » Anyone come across this van selling site before? [Lifewithavan.com] » 2026-05-08 17:15:47

Lola Kinks eh?
Sounds like a nice young lady. Good family, well educated and all that

#9 Re: General Discussion » 1.9 non turbo clutch and cam belt » 2026-05-01 11:46:05

I haven't done either job on mine but if you have the space and tools go for it
If you like the van and want to keep it, then it will be time well spent as you'll be
able to address any local corrosion issues too.

#10 Re: Maintenance » How to change the oilpan? Jumpy 2.0 hdi » 2026-04-24 13:56:12

Ahh the intercooler pipe ! yes, that makes sense now
I didn't notice the AC pump was bolted to the sump when changing the oil
but recall seeing the intercooler pipe.

I guess the job would be pretty straight forward if it was on a ramp in a garage
where all you'd had to do was remove the aux drive belt, remove and lash the AC pump out of the way and remove some
intercooler pipe work to get at it.

DIY at home I reckon you will thank yourself if you spend time getting it well jacked up on stands or ramps/blocks (SAFELY !!)
to give yourself plenty of room to work and see what you are dealing with.

It will be messy, so get plenty of rags/cloths to clean surfaces to ensure you get a good fit for the new one
and check the oil pump strainer while you're in there. A hat and eye protection too, cos stuff will  be dropping off
on your head and face at times.

Good luck with it but I wouldn't blame you for getting a quote from a local garage
as that's what I'd be doing. I'm frequently heard to say " I'm too old for this shit"  lol

#11 Re: Maintenance » How to change the oilpan? Jumpy 2.0 hdi » 2026-04-20 01:39:12

Unless there is actual damage to the sump/oil pan it may just need the bolts nipping up.
Mine has AC too but fortunately doesn't leak so never had a close look at the bolts
so not sure how accessible they are.
I know the AC pump is low down but wouldn't have thought the exhaust would be too close to the engine.
got a pic?

#12 Re: General Discussion » Helloooo! is there anybody here? » 2026-04-19 14:54:57

I never knew petrol/lpg/cng was an option for these vans, I thought they were all deisel
and cant recall ever seeing or hearing of a petrol one in the UK.
I know of LPG conversions here in petrol vans/cars but CNG seems rare.

So 306 seats will fit in a Dispatch/Scudo/Expert eh?
Easy 1 for 1 swap or mods needed?
handy to know if so as I'd like 2 nicer seats in mine

Re ECU's
I have various ECU software and VCI's
Diagbox/PP2000 is a bit of a pain in the ass to use imo
probably cos it's bootlegged.

I find the Delphi kit more flexible and have used this on various vehicles with results good enough to get the
fault codes and info I need, I could also test the fuel pump and cooling fan with it.

Torque pro using a BT dongle and Android tablet is pretty and easy but doesn't get 'under the hood' as well
and didn't get all the fault codes Delphi did.

#13 Re: Maintenance » tacho » 2026-04-13 11:49:29

in, working and more or less tallies with Torque pro

I have no doubt any Honda will impress compared to an Exp/Dis/Scu
2 years of ownership and there nothing about the van that suggests high quality.
they're basic Eurovans and all old bangers now well beyond their expected life span
but if can get few more years out the thing without expensive problems, I'll be ok with that.

Oat, remind me what Honda you have?

#15 Re: Maintenance » tacho » 2026-04-10 17:07:08

Arduino? we don need no stinkin Arduino's
I bought a cheap wee tacho ofn that Ebay (£7.99) and it runs directly off the OBD port
No signal processing needed Woo Hoo!
The white back light may be bit harsh at night but I have few cunning plans to deal with this
if it is.

#16 Re: Maintenance » tacho » 2026-04-09 15:31:06

I would guess that was because they didn't bother to fit a crank sensor in the vans engine in the factory
as the van had no tacho so the synergie binnacle didn't get any pulses.

This may help to decide if you have one

"The crank position sens"or for the XUD9 engine is typically located on the top of the bell housing, above the flywheel. It may be hidden by the thermostat housing on some engine"

If you have or get one this gives you options

#17 Re: Maintenance » tacho » 2026-04-08 01:31:26

the xud9 was used various vehicles like Citroen BX of that era plus the late 90's Xantia 1.9TD so you may well have a crankshaft position sensor option.
Check this out as the look up the table mentions xud motors, you never know.

I've been looking into building a tacho for the van and found I can tap into the engine speed signals
to the ECU off the OBD port
It's 14v square wave which I'll use an opto isolator on to drop it to a 5v square wave and and Arduino Nano
to convert and output this to either a display or a cheap 52mm tacho ofn that Ebay

I did a quick test using a scope and got 27hz frequency at roughly 800 rpm
an engine turning @ 800rpm spins 13.333 times second so it seems to be pulsing roughly at a 2 to 1 ratio
so I'll start with that as a ballpark and refine it later.

#20 Re: Maintenance » In my Abcess » 2026-04-07 15:51:17

It was the 13GB download I bought off Ebay that unpacked to a 20gb file I put on the cloud way back
It runs on XP in VM Workstation 15
Alvylad downloaded it and said he couldn't get it run but it worked for me
and better when I upgraded the VM ware.

There are some limitations due to it not being able to phone home so it may not work via a VIN number
but you can input van type manually its good enough for wiring diagrams which I mainly wanted and
gives info on most of mechanical and body assemblies.

Wiring wise, It does ask for an RPO number which i found on the door pillar.
Not sure is this is specific to Pugs or all PSA vans have it, if your dispatch has one tell me and the engine type and I'll see if it works
as they're all essentially the same van albeit with varying engines, I reckon a lot of the info is relevant.
Now I've worked out how to print the diagrams, I can build my own manual.

the van had a new MOT when I bought it in 2024 and now coming up to its 2nd MOT in my ownership
so hoping for no nasty surprises
Last year It needed a few small patches on the sills and a drive shaft boot but doesn't seem to have suffered much in the meantime
I've only driven about 4000 miles but given it fresh oil and filters recently and it's running well.
The central locking still works but the remote function has packed in. The fob has been tested OK, so its a board fault
or something
the reverse sensors have stopped bleeping but the camera still works
I recently sourced a spare wheel and cradle that will be fitted soon. these were missing when i bought it for some strange reason
so I Gooped all the tyres but it's nice to have spare just in case.
Aircon still working which is nice.
I fitted new wheel trims to make go faster wink    as usual the pics flatter it .

Hi,
There is some(one)body there. This was/is a nice site with technique and human interest. But the light is getting dimmer.
My Jumpy sat without one ignition for more than a year. I have replaced some parts, got 2(!) ECU's checked and theft control disabled and still not any ignition. Yet another analysis of the electrical system. I bridged the left part of the double relay and at last the engine came to life. Perhaps a combination of theft control and the double relay having faults.
But than again, not of any interest to somebody driving HDI.
Cheers

Not so Leo, I'm always interested in any tips, tricks and bodges about keeping these old vans running
I considered getting the immobiliser disabled on mine to make it simpler and less prone to problems down the road
What ecu does yours have? mine has the Bosch edc15c2.

I recently I got to grip with that VM/XP ballache known as Service box and have printed out all the electrical diagrams
for the 2.0 HDI Expert.
As these vans are essentially the same, I expect much of it to be relevant to dispatch/Lumpy/Scudos
The thing also has mech diagrams and stuff with part numbers
