#276 Re: Maintenance » How To Wire In 12V Cigarette Socket In Load Area? » 2021-10-15 15:56:20

In my Convoy i have extra sockets and USB up the cab what i want running off main battery. They are all ignition lived but what i did was took a feed from the main ignition wire in the steering cowling and took that to a small 12v fuse box and my axillaries going to that. Saves finding another feed behind the dash at a later date if i need another toy

Cant say i have ever had one jump out and been using fag lighter type for years however if you must, look into Hella sockets as they spring clip into place. You will obviously need a Hella plug as well.

#279 Re: Maintenance » How To Wire In 12V Cigarette Socket In Load Area? » 2021-10-14 22:14:11

I think you will need to add your own. They are all ignition live but via a switch. Tail light, brake light, reverse etc.

Oh aye. Is the fag lighter niot ignition or radio where you can tap into or a piggy back fuse holder and grab one in fuse box.

for less formal beating, like Homer's voice sometimes, but perhaps it's my submissive nature to "listen" (obey) her, I wouldn't no other woman ever! wink

I am lucky in the way my wife sits further back as the passenger door is the old bus entrance door with steps. The engine noise drown her out and she cant properly see the sat nav. You bet she can still see the bloody speedo though but my excuse is 70mph on the speedo is only 65 on the sat nav and i go with the sat nav as its way more accurate.

Speaking to someone tonight who knows you. Guy called Mark who drove an Ivaco Daily what rusted out so now a Renault Master. He goes to Tibbie Shiels a lot as well as his partner Ruth with the white convoy with leaves printed on it.

Well it was quite painless ish. I say ish as it cost me 280 quid but you just hand over the reg doc a and he does the rest. No need for MOT or Ins proof as that flashes up in front of him anyway if it has neither. Legal again  big_smile

Big thing is Euroland is the smell of wee bikes and by no means do they think they are any better  than anyone else. Most of the guys i know with one are in there local bike clubs rather than dedicated HD ones what is nice just some of the names of teh clubs are a tad odd. Death Rebels for one big_smile They are just east of Dortmund in a small village. Its that small if they have a ride out the village is deserted big_smile

#286 Re: Maintenance » How to replace steering rack » 2021-10-10 21:44:00

Six Hours  yikes

Funny thing as my Turbo went last Monday and could not swap them over till the Wednesday. Mate came round at 10 and an hour in we had not even took a bolt off yet as its all rotten fixings being older vans. Had i had a new downpipe with cat i would have cut the old one out and did the job in two hours but as it happens it took us about six hours also. In our defence that was going away and hunting for the ramps. Stopping to chat to passing neighbours. Having a laugh and taking it a fast test run to piss off cyclists as i never flushed out the exhaust or intercooler. Clear now though  big_smile

Funny as we got asked to do a steering rack on an Iveco Daily last month. Mate never wanted to do it but like my Maxus it looks easy as bigger the van the more room you have. Its all bolted to the front sub frame. Mate never wanted to do the job as if old bolts start to snap an easy job soon turn into a pig due to all the drilling out of old bolts and sourcing others the right size.

Is Subway not one of them shops where any Tom Dick or Harry can get a Franchise for? If there is no stray cats or dogs in your area then that answers your question. tongue

Customer today was going to PO so got him to ask for me. Turns out i need to go down with Reg doc and MOT/Ins and he will do it all for me. Presumably the fee as well. I have an MOT coming up soon so i had better change my Tax and start paying as im sure its a different MOT as well so i would be kind of buggered for work

If its your first sat nave make sure it is set on quickest route and not shortest. Unknown to me when in south Wales mine had reset itself and default is shortest. It had me going up the middle of Wales up and down valleys rather than getting me east and up the M5/M6. Had i listened to the sat nav it would have been almost 4 hours onto my journey going to East Lothian.

Did a few over the years in Germany and Holland. Never been to keen on UK ones and this is my first since storming the castle back on the 90's.  I still have my Rat project to build up. Got all the parts just now the time nor inclination just now. I was looking at BMW's the other night as you can get a nice R1100GS with full luggage from £2500. Seen a minter with only 33k on the clock for 2700 in black. Service history and almost showroom. Had i not has so much engine trouble with the work van i would have that in my shed now.

#291 Re: General Discussion » Disabled Motor Tax » 2021-10-08 08:05:48

That looks like to re tax or get a 2nd hand motor on disabled tax. I wan it off. .Gov can send you round and round now and again and it looks like i need one of two forms but not sure what one. It was just to save me standing there filling out a form as you and up queueing twice. One to find out and get the form, stand aside to fill it in and join the bloody queue again. Ill see if the wife is going down town later. she can ask at the PO and bring one home for me. I hope  tongue

That got my convoy a pass and my wifes Fiat so they do work. I find having it on high and moving faster helps. Stick to the 0.8mm flux wire and as said. Good earth.

I welded my last Convoy up with the side of a washing machine. Some filing cabinet and a computer case. If that is a gasless i found getting a better earth clamp end made for a better sparking end  big_smile  Your earth looks weak and on dirty steel

Few bikers here or ex. Anyone do Thunder In The Glen? I just booked for the first time. No bloody interest in Harleys but its meant to be a good crack. Taking the bike you may ask, Hell no. My back dont like tents no more so booked a camp site down the road for two nights. TITG is over three nights and my ticket offers free camping also so may take the tent for the Sunday if we are enjoying ourselves that much. 26th August 2022 for three nights in Aviemore if anyone is interested. No campers as last two years cancelled ralleys get priority. This is why i booked the camp site early

They look like B8 5D bulb and holders like what is in my convoy. If you shop around you can get LED and different colours for little money
