I haven't done either job on mine but if you have the space and tools go for it
If you like the van and want to keep it, then it will be time well spent as you'll be
able to address any local corrosion issues too.
Ahh the intercooler pipe ! yes, that makes sense now
I didn't notice the AC pump was bolted to the sump when changing the oil
but recall seeing the intercooler pipe.
I guess the job would be pretty straight forward if it was on a ramp in a garage
where all you'd had to do was remove the aux drive belt, remove and lash the AC pump out of the way and remove some
intercooler pipe work to get at it.
DIY at home I reckon you will thank yourself if you spend time getting it well jacked up on stands or ramps/blocks (SAFELY !!)
to give yourself plenty of room to work and see what you are dealing with.
It will be messy, so get plenty of rags/cloths to clean surfaces to ensure you get a good fit for the new one
and check the oil pump strainer while you're in there. A hat and eye protection too, cos stuff will be dropping off
on your head and face at times.
Good luck with it but I wouldn't blame you for getting a quote from a local garage
as that's what I'd be doing. I'm frequently heard to say " I'm too old for this shit"
Unless there is actual damage to the sump/oil pan it may just need the bolts nipping up.
Mine has AC too but fortunately doesn't leak so never had a close look at the bolts
so not sure how accessible they are.
I know the AC pump is low down but wouldn't have thought the exhaust would be too close to the engine.
got a pic?
I never knew petrol/lpg/cng was an option for these vans, I thought they were all deisel
and cant recall ever seeing or hearing of a petrol one in the UK.
I know of LPG conversions here in petrol vans/cars but CNG seems rare.
So 306 seats will fit in a Dispatch/Scudo/Expert eh?
Easy 1 for 1 swap or mods needed?
handy to know if so as I'd like 2 nicer seats in mine
Re ECU's
I have various ECU software and VCI's
Diagbox/PP2000 is a bit of a pain in the ass to use imo
probably cos it's bootlegged.
I find the Delphi kit more flexible and have used this on various vehicles with results good enough to get the
fault codes and info I need, I could also test the fuel pump and cooling fan with it.
Torque pro using a BT dongle and Android tablet is pretty and easy but doesn't get 'under the hood' as well
and didn't get all the fault codes Delphi did.
in, working and more or less tallies with Torque pro

I have no doubt any Honda will impress compared to an Exp/Dis/Scu
2 years of ownership and there nothing about the van that suggests high quality.
they're basic Eurovans and all old bangers now well beyond their expected life span
but if can get few more years out the thing without expensive problems, I'll be ok with that.
Oat, remind me what Honda you have?
Arduino? we don need no stinkin Arduino's
I bought a cheap wee tacho ofn that Ebay (£7.99) and it runs directly off the OBD port
No signal processing needed Woo Hoo!
The white back light may be bit harsh at night but I have few cunning plans to deal with this
if it is.
I would guess that was because they didn't bother to fit a crank sensor in the vans engine in the factory
as the van had no tacho so the synergie binnacle didn't get any pulses.
This may help to decide if you have one
"The crank position sens"or for the XUD9 engine is typically located on the top of the bell housing, above the flywheel. It may be hidden by the thermostat housing on some engine"
If you have or get one this gives you options
the xud9 was used various vehicles like Citroen BX of that era plus the late 90's Xantia 1.9TD so you may well have a crankshaft position sensor option.
Check this out as the look up the table mentions xud motors, you never know.
I recently noticed a tail pipe has dropped off the zorst
is this an MOT fail?

I've been looking into building a tacho for the van and found I can tap into the engine speed signals
to the ECU off the OBD port
It's 14v square wave which I'll use an opto isolator on to drop it to a 5v square wave and and Arduino Nano
to convert and output this to either a display or a cheap 52mm tacho ofn that Ebay
I did a quick test using a scope and got 27hz frequency at roughly 800 rpm
an engine turning @ 800rpm spins 13.333 times second so it seems to be pulsing roughly at a 2 to 1 ratio
so I'll start with that as a ballpark and refine it later.
It was the 13GB download I bought off Ebay that unpacked to a 20gb file I put on the cloud way back
It runs on XP in VM Workstation 15
Alvylad downloaded it and said he couldn't get it run but it worked for me
and better when I upgraded the VM ware.
There are some limitations due to it not being able to phone home so it may not work via a VIN number
but you can input van type manually its good enough for wiring diagrams which I mainly wanted and
gives info on most of mechanical and body assemblies.
Wiring wise, It does ask for an RPO number which i found on the door pillar.
Not sure is this is specific to Pugs or all PSA vans have it, if your dispatch has one tell me and the engine type and I'll see if it works
as they're all essentially the same van albeit with varying engines, I reckon a lot of the info is relevant.
Now I've worked out how to print the diagrams, I can build my own manual.
I'm having some snags posting and see I've double posted
I got this message when clicking submit after writing a post but went I went back I see I posted twice
win11 using Firefox, is it me?

the van had a new MOT when I bought it in 2024 and now coming up to its 2nd MOT in my ownership
so hoping for no nasty surprises
Last year It needed a few small patches on the sills and a drive shaft boot but doesn't seem to have suffered much in the meantime
I've only driven about 4000 miles but given it fresh oil and filters recently and it's running well.
The central locking still works but the remote function has packed in. The fob has been tested OK, so its a board fault
or something
the reverse sensors have stopped bleeping but the camera still works
I recently sourced a spare wheel and cradle that will be fitted soon. these were missing when i bought it for some strange reason
so I Gooped all the tyres but it's nice to have spare just in case.
Aircon still working which is nice.
I fitted new wheel trims to make go faster
as usual the pics flatter it .
Hi,
There is some(one)body there. This was/is a nice site with technique and human interest. But the light is getting dimmer.
My Jumpy sat without one ignition for more than a year. I have replaced some parts, got 2(!) ECU's checked and theft control disabled and still not any ignition. Yet another analysis of the electrical system. I bridged the left part of the double relay and at last the engine came to life. Perhaps a combination of theft control and the double relay having faults.
But than again, not of any interest to somebody driving HDI.
Cheers
Not so Leo, I'm always interested in any tips, tricks and bodges about keeping these old vans running
I considered getting the immobiliser disabled on mine to make it simpler and less prone to problems down the road
What ecu does yours have? mine has the Bosch edc15c2.
I recently I got to grip with that VM/XP ballache known as Service box and have printed out all the electrical diagrams
for the 2.0 HDI Expert.
As these vans are essentially the same, I expect much of it to be relevant to dispatch/Lumpy/Scudos
The thing also has mech diagrams and stuff with part numbers
I dunno.. every time I join summat it starts to go downhill fast
Ho hum.

The stock Clarion/Peugeot stereos are old crap not worth buying codes for.
I fitted a Sony Xplod I bought for £25 second hand, boxed and in as new condition.
It's got AM,FM.LW, CD (which will play MP3 files ) USB (for MP3 or phone charging), BT ( phone or media), AUX in and does everything I want for a stereo
I did upgrade the knackered door speakers for some Pioneer ones but see no need to fit 2 more to use all 4 channels
I have bumper mounted reverse sensors plus a camera with 5" monitor fixed to the parcel shelf to help me bump into things when going backwards
I considered an Android unit but the cheap Ebay ones are naff, I can get better results by connecting up my 10" Android tablet
with bigger/better 1080p screen, 8 core cpu, more memory and storage and is unbloated with apps I have no interest in or use for.
That's just some kind of primer IMO
I hear later models were galvanised but these were after the MK1 pre and post face lift era

Happy new year to one and all too
I don't buy the galvanising bit as there's no sign of it on my van
Somehow these van seem too cheap to warrant PSA spending on that sort of quality.
Rust will appear anyway cos its rust, but newly welded steel will start to rust in days unless treated
Various 'anti rust wonder products' have been on the market for years but my cheap go to
has been old engine oil slightly diluted with white spirit and a pump up garden sprayer
I would often make a few access holes to get it in all the nooks and crannies.
I've used this method on, among other things, my old Transits after welding which as we all know are often feckin rot boxes,
motor cycle frames and swinging arms and it's worked for me.
Its messy but worthwhile and a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for a shop to weld yer old banger up.
1200-1500 quid for welding? jeez, that's more than the van is worth so I'll guess it's part of the family
to consider spending that.
Aha!
Glad you asked that as it reminded me it was the second one and I had some faffery getting one that worked

The one I bought from aliexpress that works came in a different case but had the same PCBs inside
and software
It works on both USB and BT but USB seems quicker so I tend to use that over BT
So, to try and sum it all up in as concisely as I can.
it appears you have a DW10 UTED4 / RHK engine which is
a 2.0 litre common rail Turbo-diesel 16-valve with catalyst
Euro 5 compliant
and this variant has an engine mounted lift pump.
( like many of the 1.6 HDI's BTW)
You have still neglected to mention mileage.........
For comparison, my 2006 2.0 HDI (DW10 ATED / RHZ) has an electrical in tank lift pump
which at 135K is running well (fingers crossed)
Reported Fault:
intermittent starting issues, once started it runs ok
Correct?
'Test don't Guess' is my wee mantra when debugging but we all cant help guessing anyway
cos we're all human right?
If it were my vehicle I would get the OBD kit running on it and check fault codes
for clues before committing to spending.
Not all faults trigger an eml light.
I've got various VCIs up to a bootlegged Lexia which runs in WinXP in a VM (I hate it!)
but my favourite for the Expert is a Multidiag pro from Aliexpress running bootlegged Delphi.
This may not get under the hood as far as Lexia, but it gets the codes and some other data
which is all I want most of the time and it works on other vehicles too.
I've used it on my Expert and recently a 2011 Peugeot 308 1.6 HDI and a 2001 1.8 petrol Audi TT to read/clear fault codes.
HDI engines being common rail work at a much higher pressure than the previous indirect injection engines and the pumping process
(like any pumping process) creates heat, hence the need to cool it while returning fuel to the tank to try to keep it within bounds
