Just back from our trip to Sicily and associated crap roads seem to damaged the suspension.
When going over bumpy surfaces there is a rattle on the drivers side, however it only happens if the van is turning to the left.
Any ideas before I open my wallet?
Thanks for coming back and glad you got sorted.
It's a depressing story. The rac guy was right, you should be able to start without the alternator. So when the belt broke, something else broke. In this case the broken belt must have damaged the sensor or its wiring.
So replacing the alternator was a total guess as was the fuel pump. The fuse box theory was also a total guess. None of these have a logical explanation as to why the engine fault and broken belt happened at the same time. Yet you have had to pay for the parts and work. Shame really.
Did anyone check the battery voltage?
I think with breakdown you need to have the kit to repair, but don't need to actually use it. May have imagined thatt though.
If you have breakdown insurance you could get away without a spare wheel.
Yes Lexia or diagbox is the diagnostic and config sw. Btw to add keys you will need the 4 character pin code which will have been lost years ago between trades :-)
You will need either a Philips ID33 (T5) or a Philips Crypto II (T14). These are one time programable via Lexia. Best to pull the transponder from one of the remotes to check.
The wires are numbered - if you can read them
The legend info is here, but it takes a bit of time to get the gist

Those svg files are in fact svgz (zipped) files. Renaming them might make them viewable. I think they fixed this in later versions. Heres the version I use https://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/foru … 7424#p7424
Get a quote from Longlife or Powerflow custom stainless steel exhausts. Will be more expensive but will come with lifetime guarentee.
Have a look at the engine fusebox, under the bonnet drivers side, in my van. Unfortunately they decided to integrate as much of the functionality as possible into a single unit - so little chance of replacing a single faulty part. But worth having a look at the connectors and fuses for corrosion. This is a pic of mine.
What size of battery and how much current are you looking to charge at.
Are you looking at a dc-dc charger?
Oddly I just did my oil, with a genuine filter 1109CL and it just dropped in. No clicks or orienteering all.

Sat nav poss warned me, but was rushing to get north so blundered on without noticing anything. First thing I knew was a 45 Euro fine through post as I was only just over.
A bit worrying. I thought that post brexit there was no eu access to UK vehicle reg details.
Last trip when I got speeding fine I had a hire car from Bergerac. So French authorities got my info from hire company in France.
This trip I've taken the Scudo as the hire car cost really adds up, especially as I extended trip several times. Much nicer having my own vehicle on this trip. Plus if I pick up a ticket, maybe I'll get off Scot free.
Thanks, that makes sense.

The Renogy inverters have this function built in, though the load rating can be way too small. I had thought about using one of these but it looked like I'd have to run another cable the full length of the van, which seemed like too much effort (for this year anyway).
In the end I only use 240V for a 500w heater and cooking with small appliances so it's not that much of a bind just to switch sockets.
With the esp disabled, and trying do a hill start on an icy road, the abs came on full. The van stalled. Restarting enabled it it again and I was able to move. So more imprtant than I thought.
Just so pissed off that the garage sent me off knowing that they had not reset the sensor, for whatever reason.
I've never found any printed diagrams like the MK1, but use Sedre, which comes with the Servicebox virtual image which can still be found here
https://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/foru … 7424#p7424
Getting it up and running is a bit of a challenge, never mind navigating the application, and understanding the results.
Tbh for the MK2 so much of the electrics are functional black boxes, it's of marginal use.
Firstly, had the cambelt replaced a few weeks ago, and I suggested that maybe the sub-frame had been removed, which would mean that the wheel alignment would need to be checked. The response was that they do not have the kit, and would always recommend alignment is carried out after any major work...except they hadn't mentioned it. Anyway I was getting new tyres so I was going to have the alignment done at the same time.
With the alignment you get a nice printed sheet with toe, camber, castor etc. - figures all over the place. Then it turns out the only adjustments that can be made is to the toe on the front wheel. They had adjusted this because it was out, and then mumbled something about "see how it goes" and "bring it back if there is a problem".
I was only driving about town, and all was ok, until I headed off on a road trip a few days ago. So after arriving in France I get a beep and an orange light to say there was a fault with electronic steering program (ESP), and it was now disabled. After a restart the light goes out, but comes on again after 10-15 miles.
Got my diagbox out and read the fault, which was with the steering angle sensor. This was showing the steering wheel to be 18deg to the left, when I know I was doing a straight line. Looking at the steering wheel, it is indeed turned to the left when the wheel are straight ahead.
Back into diagbox, and was was able to re-calibrate the sensor so that it reads zero deg when the wheels are straight ahead. In the dialog it even states that the sensor should be recalibrated when the toe is changed.
Hopefully that will sort it out for now, until I get it back for alignment again.
6ft3 old money.. king el
Found it. It's on the drivers door frame, on the b pillar, near where the lock engages.
I would not worry too much about the message on the the display, I will be so generic as to be incomprehensible.
I'd run a quick odb2 fault scan though.
I was at out local council recycling today, and noticed that there was a small weighbridge. Asked if I could use use it, and no problem - and no charge if I did not need a cert.
So it came in at 2280kg and the max on the V5 2698kg. This is good news since we are heading off shortly and the van is packed with food & equipment, with full water and fuel tanks.
Still can't find the ratings plate, but did find a doc that lists the weights, which is now in the manuals section.
Hunting for specs online is a hopeless task, with data being vague or wrong.
Eventually found the a dealer pdf with al the tech specs.
