Leave the pump alone, unless there is solid evidence it has been mis timed, leave it be.
It if the pump was wrongly set up, I reckon it would have been obvious after the glow plugs were replaced.

I always check the temp gauge against an IR thermometer so know if I can trust it
'white smoke' from poor combustion can easily be confused with water vapour and vice versa.
so you need to establish what it is exactly.

(It's also possible for it to be both of course)

I can see coolant in your pic so you dont seem to have lost a lot in 2000km
I'd check all hoses carefully when fully warmed up and running
check around the heater too.

Yep, that's the snag, you cant tell by looking what a springs' spring and load rate is.
One would hope the Synergie spring rate would be lower, ie start to deflect at a lower weight than a Dispatch one
but the load rate somewhere close

I wasnt a fan of the stock dome light.
The switch was a cheap nasty wee thing that didn't turn off properly at times
and sometimes had the neighbouts knocking on the door to tell me it was staying on
so I upgraded it to led and used a proper switch.
2 in fact
I also added a 'bright' option for the times I want to work or read in the cab when it was dark.
I already had the switches and bought a pack of 4 30cm led fittings for £20
which I will use in the back later.
The switch/s

Brighter option

The fitting mounted high up on the cross beam, I wont tidy the wiring until I've plumbed in the rear lights
which will all be switched from the cab.
They work as normal with the door switch and dim after a while like the stock bulb, but I wouldn't care if they didn't do the dimmer thing.

Well you are asking about a MK2 in the MKI section John
for myself I'm still struggling to find decent info on my MK1
so not much help on a MKII

#55 Re: Maintenance » That damn back door » 2025-06-30 15:06:05

I have often mused over finding/fitting some softer rear springs as it does feel a bit harsh at times.
If I could get a part number or what would be compatible and they weren't too expensive, I'd be sorely tempted as I bet they
make for a nicer ride and lessen the impact that can make the doors rattle

Just did quick Ebay check out of curiosity
£65 a pair? jeez, I'm tempted
What do you reckon to these Ken?

#56 Re: General Discussion » Dispatch 2007 central locking » 2025-06-29 23:51:39

Oscar I think John has the MK2 model which may or may not have the same locking circuitry
so be warned before tinkering with it.

I suggest you start a new thread on yours and give some info on the problem, year, model etc
and I see if can drag up some info on the locking system relevant to yours

#57 Re: Maintenance » Central locking testing » 2025-06-29 23:46:37

An H bridge is basically/usually a control ciruit that can flip the polarity
pos/neg to neg/pos making say, a motor run in either direction.

I'm only assuming an H bridge, but it may just use relays instead.
Sorry, I have no idea where the controller is, all the locks on my van have just the two wires
going to them and the controller is buried under the dash or in the engine bay for all I know.
I haven't had to search the thing out yet.

#58 Re: Maintenance » That damn back door » 2025-06-29 16:15:06

Just got back from a quick test and its actually better now so having one of me thinks................

The handle to open the LH door was tighter than normal and think in my efforts to 'improve' it
I may have over tightned the door catches and thereby stressed it too much which obviously didnt help.

This time, I used a dry marker on the catch plates to see where the tongue thing was making contact
to check they were not hitting or sticking on the sides, they looked OK.
Bearing in mind the tightness of the lever previously, I carefully pushed the door shut until I heard
the top tongue loctate and the seal at the top looked good.
The catch plate looked to be where should be.

lrkVb3I.jpg

The bottom catch was still unengaged and the door looked to be in a good position seal wise
so I backed off the 2 catch plate bolts and gently levered the catch plate back until I
heard the tongue engage then nipped them up.

SxQr1E5.jpg

The creaking noise has gone! and the door release lever feels normal again so hopefully that's sorted.
I know these van are not built for comfort and have typical hard suspension in order to carry heavy loads
so they'll never be whisper quiet like luxury saloons but the quieter we can get them makes them more pleasant to drive.

#59 Re: Maintenance » That damn back door » 2025-06-29 14:32:31

Yep, mine popped open once and I padded the top plate so the spring loaded 'tongue' thing
went deeper into the plate
The noise.
It often starts as I pull away on the uneven lane out to the main road and continues more with the vans movement rather
than when I hit say a bump or pot hole
It's kind of a creaking/rattly sort of noise
I've crawled underneath to see if it was a loose shock or suspension component but couldn't find anything to suggest this
then when I did a LHS rear door catch adjustmenit it went away for a while which makes me suspect the door
is moving.
It's maddening, if I hit a bump and the tools and assorted crap in the back rattles, that's fine I know what that is
and it doesn't bother me, but not knowing what's making the noise bugs me.
I've just tried another adjustment  method and about to go around the block to see if it makes any difference
and will update this in a bit and take some pics.

I may even try to record it if I can

I'm plague by a almost constant creaking/rattling from the back door
on every movement of the van not just bumps and pot holes where one would
expect all the crap in the back to jump about
I think its the left hand one
I have adjusted the slam plates a few times now but still haven't got it quiet yet
any tips and tricks?

#61 Re: General Discussion » New to the forum, my woes so far! » 2025-06-28 19:15:39

I went a slightly different route and mostly used what was to hand.
That central vent was broken and useless so I blanked it off and put a ply plate in with
1 power and 2 USB-C/or 4 USB C ports and voltmeter
While it was opened up I made mounts for my phone and 10" Android tablet

I dont leave them in the car of course so no temptation for the scrotes
and the Sony stereo while good, looks low key

I have google maps on the phone and OSMAnd on the tablet
they both have their pros and cons and are used accordingly.
the tablet has lots of media files on it which I can BT to the stereo if I wish
but its ususally loud enough not to need it.
I could also tether it to my phone hot spot, but rarely bother
the tablet's only fitted when exploring or on a long journey.

The Amazon one shown above says 1080p but the specs says the screen only has a resolution of
1000x600 so that's not 1080p but 720p.

Mine's got steering wheel controls linked to my stereo  but I never bother using them
it's also got air bags, seat belt pre tensioners
and remote central locking.
Last but most important to me
Air Con !
I do like me air con, useful in summer and winter that.

#63 Re: Maintenance » washer jumpy » 2025-06-22 22:50:56

I'm just guessing, but I reckon the large one circled in red is the screen wash pump and the smaller one
is for a vehicle with a headlamp washer or its a supply to a rear screen wash.

Doh! I'm so friggin stupid
I kept looking at that orange knob thing thinking it was a priming pump
and ignoring the squeezy ball thing.
Of course! the orange knob is the dip stick and nowt to do with fuel system?

Sorry for any confusion caused by my chiming in half assed.
My van has the DW10 HDI so different sytem and its been many years and vehicles since I had the Citroen C15
that had a DW8 or XUD ( not sure) and its a vague memory now.

Glad you got there despite my 'advice'

#65 Re: Maintenance » Jumpy/Dispatch 1998 XUD9 TE Glow Plug Change » 2025-06-21 23:09:06

Well done, you'll be glad you did that come autumn and winter,
indirect injection motors can be a sod to start in cold weather without glow plugs.

That 'key' is what we call a 'ring spanner'

#67 Re: General Discussion » Well bugger » 2025-06-21 12:05:06

How about using a multi tool?
using an angel grinder in the confined space under a dash sounds very hazardous at the best of times

You've sunk a lot ( too much ) dosh into this thing all ready
I expect we've all had total arseache jobs before that make us want to set fire to the sodding things
I know I have.
I suggest you walk away for bit, take break from it and mull over options before giving up.

#68 Re: Maintenance » Refitting Original fuel filter Citroen Jumpy 1998 XUD9 TE » 2025-06-21 11:51:43

Ah! hang on
Another look tells me the outlet from the filter goes to the priming pump then the injector pump
I mistakenly assumed the primer was pre filter, so 7 (pump inlet) must connect to the primer.

What are two sensor looking connectors? one green one blue.
I'll guess one is the coolant temp sensor.

#69 Re: Maintenance » Refitting Original fuel filter Citroen Jumpy 1998 XUD9 TE » 2025-06-20 22:14:45

BTW the standard filter setup does look very much like a heat exchanger to warm the fuel
which will have some ability to cool it as well,  odd as this may sound

Diesel likes to be warm but not hot, so as the coolant will or should be, kept within a temperature band close to say 85/90C
so if the fuel has been circulating on long, hot, journey it could be cooled at least in theory by coming into contact with
something relatively cooler on its way to the injector pump.

It's to do with heat expanding the volume of the fuel so
the same amount will take up more volume in the pump when hot than when cold/cooler
so produce less power per volumetric dose

Some ECUs can adjust for this variation but yours may not.

#70 Re: Maintenance » Refitting Original fuel filter Citroen Jumpy 1998 XUD9 TE » 2025-06-20 22:06:36

I'd say Top of filter/outlet (no 4) goes to injector Pump/inlet (7) which, if I'm right,
should currently be connected to the bottom of your after market can filter.
8 on pump should be the fuel return to tank.

By all means check though, because I have a different pump and filter on my 2.0 HDI.

#71 Re: General Discussion » WVO Update: I changed my fuel filter. I'm glad I did » 2025-06-20 14:24:37

Oww!
I'd be concerned at what may be happening elsewhere.
You may not get the same concentration of solids elsewhere but I suggest at least
using a lower ratio of WVO to deisel.
90/10 WVO to deisel is too much IMO, even pukka biodeisel will only have a
20/80 VO to petrochemical deisel ratio at most and that's with properly processed vegetable oil

Welcome Claire
2006 DW8 NA?
I'm surprised someone cheaped out and put a DW8 in 2006 van.
the could have at least stuck a turbo lump in.
( The XUD 1.9 turbo could be a possible upgrade to mull over)
I had a DW8 C15 van and it was, let's say 'pedestrian' to drive.
Sounds like you jumped off a racehorse and on to a donkey! lol

Oh well, you've bought it now

I'm at just over 1 year of ownership of one of these vans
after a VAG engined Galaxy and have the 2.0 HDI model.
I cant specifically say what to look for but but in general,
check for rot before committing to throwing too much money at it.
The inner and outer sills and front subframes are  known to rot and
if neglected will cost plenty of time and money to fix.

It's probably the simplest and least complex model with no ECU,
no remote central locking,no air con or seat belt pretensioners to delve into.
Changing the cam belt and water pump was a good move, so this with regular oil
and filter changes should ensure there's plenty of life left in it.
Having an indirect injection lump means you'll need to check the glow plugs
and relay especially before the temps drop later in the year.

There is no Haynes manual to refer to, the Hayne Autofix is a useles rip off
so dont bother
Electrically:
Citroen do not use colour conventions on cables like most manufacturers
but each cable has a number on it which can be a PITA at times.
On the wiring diagrams I've found each device has a code which is ok
when you have the look up table, but can be bloody frustrating when you dont.
I've worked on vehicle and motorcycle electrics for years and still get very irritated
at something I should be able to trace through in seconds can take ages to do.

On a say an Audi system, a brown cable will be a ground or green on a Honda
On these vans, green/yellow is often a ground, but that cant be relied on.

Anyway Show us a pic of your pride and joy
