Re: project

I remember the water board having those commers. Way nicer looking van than the VW. If you slam the brakes on (empty van) you can tilt them forward  big_smile

Re: project

I remember telecom ones, they also put the engine in the right place next to the driver instead of in the load space/living at the back of the van  roll kin germans

Re: project

I liked the Commers too but they used to rot badly as most did back then, and you could work on the engine quite easly(upside down that is)

Yeah i like them to but i prefered the 70's ones with sliding front doors.
I bet they did'nt sell a lot of them facelift models, i think they were competing with the first smiley transits

From a ex 2cv nutters point of veiw  they are still my dream van  but sadly out of my reach out (silly prices)  if look at them closley you realize how far advanced they where compared to the rest of the world  (so was the 2cv)

Why is it when I need a camera I never have one to hand ...... On way home this evening I traveled behind a french reg mk2 golf with a camper pod on back/top looked like it had hatch lid removed to aid space climb into bunk .....

Same idea as this but not just as Large.... (only about enough room to stand after bumper)
astra-camper.jpg

No camera....Why? ... Because battery is getting charged as it was dead as a dodo when I went to take a photo of a Belgium reg H van camper in town couple days ago
(have you noticed that all Dutch reg or spec H vans have normal cab opening doors the rest  all have suicide doors)
In the last 3... 4 years never seen any H vans  in France when traveling there

Hardly fake I'm afraid I've seen that photo before that was up for sale in Kirkaldy in Fife IIRC

'Stimpson'  conversion.................................I'd seen a red one before
and I vaguely remember one called the Extra Stimson in a magazine (weird looking wobbly tall thing)........

Although you may be right they might have some kind  of connection to those C15 champ Romahome's

Casper I almost bought one of them sierra starship things it was the Cortina based one with 6 wheels, petrol version though so walked away.
On the bedford theme I quite like these, probably cheaper than that mash up clio too

We had one of those Bedford Rascal/Suzuki Carry vans had immense fun in the snow till the novelty wore off/reality set in ..... barely 30mpg and when it rained the inner wheel arches which the seats were on were rotten and patched to death over time used to allow sh*** water to spray up inside all over you, cab and windows  .......... immensely funny/fun at first..........Piaggio partner? very similar and has a diesel option.......

Back to Citroen's.......

Must be lovely to drive and without Power steering?.........Or maybe.... did they put it on backwards

Brilliant! big_smile I'm a practical man and can see his thinking... It was free it fits on backwards provides a superb sunscreen and doesn't take up any valuable space lol.

Unfortunately it looks ridiculous and ugly as sin, or possibly the results of a head on collision!
