Breakaway hookup cables?

I'm spending some time on a campsite and I'm taking advantagre of the electric hookup. I know from past experience I have a habit of forgetting I'm still plugged in before driving off  neutral

Does anyone know of a hookup cable that safely disconnects under tension?

Re: Breakaway hookup cables?

Never seen a breakaway design aimed at campers but some industries do use them.  Some emergency vehicles even have self ejecting plugs triggered by engine starting.

An unmissable visual reminder like Casper suggests would be simplest and cheapest I think.

How about a large bright tag on a clip to attach to your keys?

Re: Breakaway hookup cables?

I have the cable hooked around my gearstick as a reminder at the moment, but I'm hoping for something a bit more foolproof

Only think i could think of that does not lock when the male female are together is probably Anderson plug/sockets but you would need two but it making them waterproof. What about the male/female Commando plugs and cutting away any locking lugs to allow them to slip apart.

Re: Breakaway hookup cables?

I used a piece of thin hose made into a keyring, then pushed the hose over the ignition key blade. The hose has to be removed to use the key, a good reminder that something needs checked.
It was used on my bike after an embarrassing attempt to pull away with a brake disc lock fitted.
