Aerial removal

I have a 2014 Dispatch which has a pretty full on leak which I suspect is coming from the aerial. I’ve tried silicone sealant around the outside but this hasn’t completely stopped it, so I was planning to remove the aerial, and refit (using silicone if necessary). Haynes Manual says this is not one for the amateur as the roof panel and headlining need to be removed and refitted. Is this definitely the case?  Has anyone here  successfully removed and refitted the aerial base plate? A quick search on here suggests the process of refitting is a bit of a pain. Any tips? I’m assuming access via the interior light, haven’t looked yet as it’s chucking it down both outside and inside the van :\

Re: Aerial removal

I removed mine and refitted due to adding insulation to make cab more comfortable. It wasn't that difficult .. torx head screwdriver removing overhead storage panel the push grommets along back of roof linning, then back to torx head screwdriver to remove grab handles and linning drops down exposing ariel base.
If you remove it then it's not a bad idea to put some general purpose vehicle insulation in. It really does make a difference.
