My new van

IMG-20240809-WA0003.jpeg

Hi all, I've recently picked up a 2005 WAV scudo and am looking forward to doing a few bits to it, I've read through a lot of the forum and found it very useful so I decided to sign up and hopefully share some of my own findings that might be helpful to others.

So far I've ordered a water pump kit, timing belt kit,
Accessories belt, and lower stiffer springs, once I've fitted that lot I'm sure I'll find other bits and bobs to sort but she's pretty low mileage (kms) and in generally good condition.
I plan to use it as my do it all car, dogs, mountain bikes, motorbikes, an occasional run to the dump and the odd night's camping.

Re: My new van

Another WAV! same colour too, what engine?
Wish my van was blue, mine looks like a mobile freezer
but as long as it does the job I spose.

Edit: Just seen your other post, you have the 2.0 HDI

Yep it's the 16v 2.0 jtd/hdi
Fiat service centre near me wanted outrageous money for a timing belt kit but I found a good supplier online.

Re: My new van

I'm going to try get a drivers side seat from a lhd van and swap out my double passenger seat up front, the bigger bikes do fit but not comfortably.
A gap between front seats would allow the front wheel go between the seats a little and give me space for a wheel chock. I've removed the wheelchair seatbelts but kept the loops they were attached to bolted to the floor as tie down points.

That is where your drop floor comes in handy. I needed a scaffold plank and duck to get in

Bought myself a Fazer600 a couple of weeks ago. Nice condition for its age. Strapped it down in the van and did the bugger not slide. Thank god it had engine bars and i just killed a mirror

Re: My new van

Yeah the dropped floor was one of the deciding factors for me, I knew I wanted a scudo expert dispatch anyway but when this one came up near my sisters house I jumped on it. That's a bloody lovely fazer, well done!

I wanted a weekend toy but never wanted to go over 1500 quid. R1150GS's were coming up local but space shop milage. Couple of older RF900's then started to think, i dont need a big bike. Its now just a play thing so this came up local ish at 1400. Manage to get it for 1300 so quite chuffed. Probably new disks next year and a few nuts and bolts as some are looking shabby but that is about it.

Re: My new van

I bought myself one of those folding ramps for when I want to stuff a bike in mine
I got the loan of one a while back to get a mates scooter in for the MOT and it made it very easy
Wingnut looks like he's got a classic wee Vespa
1960's? 150??

I bought two and a small winch for my Maxus van but they are only about 200kg each. As i can stand in my present van i just put two planks down and drive the bike up while walking on the other plank

Re: My new van

I hear ya Casper, no one really needs much more than a 600cc bike, the vtr is the brother in laws, I commute daily on an Mt07, it's already gotten me in trouble   yikes

The ramps Reg mentioned are great, lightweight and don't take up much space either there's a really wide type too, they still fold flat but you can walk up the ramp beside the bike which makes loading handy too!
It's a '63 Vespa 90 good eye man!

I'm told mine is a 16v too
Apparently the 2.0's come in  8v and 16v but I have no idea how to tell the difference
It does say RHZ in the VIN which might have some significance

I got the Gates timing belt and water pump kit fitted shortly after buying mine in April
and gave it an oil and filter change too

I'm pretty pleased with it so far, it goes well and gives just over 50 mpg on a run

They do indeed come in both, do you know which belt you got? Part number?
I was in the same boat I needed to  order bits but couldn't figure out if it was 8 or 16v

Re: My new van

I bought the Gates belt and Tensioner kit from Ebay and the water pump separately
just been looking through my purchase history ( Jeez, I dont half buy a load of crap!)
I see the Gates TBkit for my expert has the same OEM numbers as the Scudo
which isnt really surprising as they're fundamentally the same vans

Scudo
Reference OE/OEM Number
    0831.N5, 0831.V3, 0831V3, 0831.N4
Expert
Reference OE/OEM Number
    0831.N5, 0831.V3, 0831V3, 0831.N4

Yes they use the same motors as far as I know.
Is the number OE 831.74? If so It appears yours is indeed the 16v 110hp

Re: My new van

The Expert OEM numbers above are from the actual part I bought.
Dunno what's on the belt, it was fitted a while back and all can I say it works.
I did look at the label on the ECU and that was blank so no help there
I think I'm correct in saying the 16V's have a second cam shaft driven by a chain from
the one driven by the cam belt so may well be a common size.

One thing that does piss me off about these vans is no easy access to info
No Haynes manuals or workshop service manuals that I can find and as they're largely regarded as obsolete and abandoned now, probably little chance of finding any.
I did buy and download what was offered as a 'covers everything' manual one which was a rip off really
and is a pita to use as it runs XP of all things in virtual machine.
Even when it is up and running it's not totally useless but clunky and more parts than procedure oriented
The wiring diagrams use Citroen or PSA conventions which can take a while to extract useful info out of.
I'm no stranger to all sorts of wiring diagrams and schematics but they're not fun to use as I had to keep cross
referencing stuff to build my own files out of them and convert compressed svgs to jpgs and such
Did I say not fun? they're a PITA

Well you've saved me the bother of buying that online manual, thanks!
I thought the same about the twin cam driver by chain but I looked on the Eper link on this site and discovered that they had the chain driven second cam and also a traditional style (belt around both cam pulleys) to further confuse matters
