Blowing black smoke with fault light

Dispatch throws out black smoke and thick black smoke on higher revs.
My basic diagnostic computer says its something to do with the wastegate solenoid. Also if i floor it to try and give it a clear out it'l go into limp mode for a few days.
So im presuming this has something to do with the turbo. Is this gona cost me an arm and leg to fix? Guessing it wont pass the emissions test at mot.
The van only cost me 800 and to be fair its served me well but most of the bushings need replacing too. Is it worth spending all that money do you think?

Re: Blowing black smoke with fault light

If you can get a definitive answer on the fault then it might be worth you having a go at fixing it, nothing to lose?
