Spare wheel carrier

Looking for one but what one. I presumed they would all be the same up to the Mk2. Ebay throws up two versions. What is yours like?

01

02 what i think i had in my last van

I cant how any of these would fit my van hangers? Is it a bold and split pin at the pivot points or just a but steel from the hanger poking into the hole.

Yeah the dearer one tongue

I presume it just hooks in at what would be the top in the picture and that extra cup/cover to the right is a heat shield.

Ill see what i can find closer as i am not paying 40 quid for that. Garage i got my ash tray from plonked there one on old car parts and it had no wheels. Underside is crushed so cant see one being any good on that.

Re: Spare wheel carrier

Mines like the 02 one as well.

The pegs at the back pivot in the holes in the hangers with the other end pulled up to the floor with a bolt and hook.  The plate is a heat shield.

Re: Spare wheel carrier

My 2006 model has the 2nd type.  That first pic looks more like the cradle for the fuel tank?

I was looking at them again (on ebay) after i posted this but thinking "is this from a later model" then i seen the bolt holes what clicked fuel tank.

Re: Spare wheel carrier

Hi guys,
sorry to jump on an old thread but how would I remove the one like the 02 picture please? Can't see an obvious way other than bending the brackets and wrestling it out!

Thanks

I haven't tried but now I think about it I don't know.

Is at least one of the hangers bolted on?  I doubt it and would be rusted solid anyway.

Otherwise must be just enough spring in the steel to detach.  Awkward to get at without a pit though.  Try a loop of nylon rope wound up with a stick in the middle to compress the cage.

There is a bolt half way up the OS bracket but not sure what for. Will get under it and have a proper look  - thanks for the advice
