Adjust Mk2 gear linkage

My Mk2 1.6  has a gear lever problem--it just barely engages reverse with the gear lever back as far as it will go, while there's plenty of spare movement engaging 1st, 3rd and 5th.

So I need to adjust the linkage. I can't see from the Haynes BOL where any adjustment is available.

Has anyone here done this, please?

Re: Adjust Mk2 gear linkage

For mine this was the clutch cable, once that was replaced it was hunky dory.

Hydraulic clutch in those though, right?

Yes, hydraulic clutch and it's working fine so far.

My problem is reverse only engages by the edge of the teeth, and sometimes it doesn't engage at all. The problem was plain to see when I changed the gear lever gaiter--the lever hits the back of the gear lever console before reverse is properly engaged.

It all works smoothly otherwise, so I just want to adjust it. But sneaking around the web, I see cables with no adjustment!

If I find an answer, I'll come back and comment.
