Another 10 minute job turns into a fretful saga

Another 10 minute job?
yeah right

I was moving the phone mount (circled in green) and dropped a 1/4" drive short extension and 8mm socket down behind the clocks and removed half the dash and buggered if I can find the bloody thing!
I even got the lappy out an used the USB endoscope camera to try and locate it

Sod it, I'm seriously pissed off and have better things to do and its not that special anyway
so it can damn well stay there if it wants to

if it dropped behind the clocks through the gaps it will be on top of the steering column support. it should rattle its way out.. take a few corners harder than you normally would. dont wear flip flops.. not fun when that lands on your toenail end on.

dont ask me how i know.

I've definitely had things reappear when I've dropped them down there. I can't say it was always quickly though

The socket had better appreciate your effort! I'd have given up on it long before then

Re: Another 10 minute job turns into a fretful saga

So after yesterdays ballache removing panels with torches, magnet fishing, endoscopes and struggle,
I gave up and left it in bits and this morning took the van out to fetch some bits and bobs
wires and stuff dangling all over the place.
As soon I pulled out the lane, guess what dropped on the floor?
Yep, that wee socket and extension.

Oh you F&@%£"~~ little B*&^%$£!! says I, all that sodding about and all
I had to do was drive it round the block!.
Well at least I wont be driving about wondering wtf happened to the thing

What's the thing with jam jar lids. Oh yea, you definitely must've loosened it. Would have stayed in there forever and probably jammed in a steering mechanism if you hadn't taken all the panels out.

Is what you can tell yourself

Dismantled it myself once, I think I was trying to diagnose why one of the blower adjusters wasn't working?
