I'm a bit surprised it's a 1.9D ( not even a turbo?) for that year
it seems a bit retrograde as I assumed they'd all have the 2.0 engine by 2006
or at least a turbo.

Clearly nothing but the best for me  lol

A normally aspirated 1.9 while not as nippy will have the advantage of simplicity
so fewer things to go wrong which is not a bad thing in old bangers like ours.

I had a Citroen C15 van for while, I would sometimes wish it was a bit quicker but it was a good solid plodder
I couldn't fault for reliability

Agreed. The DW8 1.9D is as basic as you can get. As much as the XUD9TE is similarly bulletproof I have had a couple of turbo-related issues on my current one that I wouldn't have had with my old DW8

I definitely took solace with the DW8 that there was basically nothing to go wrong, and what was there was a beast in terms of reliability.

I now have two. This was at Gretna last week heading north after being down Devon and Cornwall for a week.

Brilliant, I love dogs smile The bus is kinda cool too. I would of like a camper bus thing one day, but I dont have the license needed. Limited to max 3.5ton I believe?

Which 1.9 would I have?

DW8 or the XUD9TE?

Re: Hello, New to French stuff!

I think you have the DW8? but expect others will tell you for sure
I'm still confused over what I have in mine exactly

I know its a DW(something) and 2.0 and has turbo and intercooler cos I can see that
but the seller kept going on about it having 16v and I dont know if it has or not.

I dont care that much, its an old banger and I'd like a few years of reliability and economy
out of it without anything serious/expensive happening. lol

DW8 or the XUD9TE?

Your engine is 1868cc, so it's the DW8. Anything 1.9 after 2000 is the DW8 as the XUD wasn't Euro 3 compatible

The 2.0 HDi is the DW10. Turbo, Euro 4+ compatible. Faster and more efficient, but has electronic gubbins.
The 1.9 D is the DW8. No turbo, Euro 3. Slower and waaaay more basic but bulletproof and nothing to go wrong

They're not really the same family. The DW8 is basically an XUD9 upgraded into being Euro 3

I'll take Bulletproof over power, especially what im using it for.

Plenty vans and mini buses out there what are plated as 3.5T. Some are plated over at 3.8 or in my case 4.2T but that is not the actual weight. They need to compensate for 17 fat passengers and possibly a disabled lift in the back. You can get then down plated. You can try and do it yourself with DVLA but the norm is getting a company called SVTec to do the work for you. You get a weight bridge ticket and they do the rest for about £100.

This was my last bus what was plated at 3.85T. On the bridge it was only 2.2T converted.
