#1 Re: Maintenance » brake sliding pins lubrcant » 2023-07-13 16:38:53

Thanks for the reply I had advisories (discs and pads) on the last MOT just getting prepared. Some sliding pins have rubber parts that need lubing with silicone otherwise the plastic swells causing them to bind

Hi Tee_Cee I'm in total embarrassment I've managed to delete the file Could you put the link up again, I'll take a screenshot of it in case my laptop has a hissy mad

#6 Re: General Discussion » Central locking » 2021-12-10 17:07:55

Thanks, all is well it worked for me this time It looks a lot more complex!

All I need to do now is figure what all those relays do, to get a complete understanding of how it works. Not sure if I can face it at the moment it looks as if the basic lock/unlock function is the same as the none deadlocking system. I've got a feeling if you keep the lock button on the keyfob depressed it closes any open windows, this seems to fit what's shown on the drawing.

#8 Re: General Discussion » Central locking » 2021-12-09 13:14:16

Thanks for that, as you say it looks simple, but my van does have deadlocking. I have found similar info on the Peugeot 1007, which does have deadlocking, which mentions 2 change-over relays on the BMI board, but it's unlikely that the fault lies here as it mentions it affecting more than one door when they stick. So if you have further info on the deadlocking circuit it would be most gratefully received. My understanding of the central locking system on the van is the BMI knows the doors are closed/locked by the door lock on the 2 front doors, on the sliding doors by a separate switch (ie the plunger switch with security issues)

Thanks for the reply, the battery voltage is fine but it's a good point. I can live with it as only intermittent and only affects the passenger door. But it's irritating having to remember to check it every time I lock the van, I would like to get it sorted, a wiring diagram would help or a description of what all the wires are on the locking mechanism. I dought its a fault on the CanBuss as it only affects the passenger door, with no warning lights, the door open light operates correctly

Citroen Dispatch Mk2 The passenger door not always locking, it seems to be worse if I don't open the door before locking it. I looked at it about 2 months back checked the connection and lubed it which fixed it at this time, but now the fault has returned. Has anyone got a wiring diagram or any ideas?

#11 Re: General Discussion » Regeneration Indicator » 2021-10-06 21:38:23

Thanks for the reply Ive been looking at other DPF threads, It seems that Peugeot 308 use the glow plugs to boost the temperature, I suppose it could be an increased electrical load as the mirror heaters, the poster seemed to be implying it was a direct heating effect, I can't quite see this myself. Just a thought, there's not glow plugs fitted in the DPF itself by any chance?

#12 Re: General Discussion » Regeneration Indicator » 2021-10-05 13:40:55

All very interesting, what in general happens during regeneration? You mention other items that are controlled in regeneration, would you like to expand on this?

How do other people get on with Eco mode? (battery saving system).  My 2014 Dispatch the Eco mode seems to be more sensitive than necessary, cutting off ancillary equipment until the engine is restarted, I understand it saves enough power so you can always start the engine, but it's a pain having to start the engine just to open the windows or use the radio Has anyone come up with a workaround for this

#14 Re: General Discussion » addblue » 2021-09-13 09:44:23

Thanks for the reply, at 80k the van was with the previous owner, never heard of eolys fluid Presumably it won't need topping up until 160k?

I have a Mk2 Dispatch When you switch to main beam dip turns off checked with voltmeter. I haven't noticed any lack of illumination though, perhaps your headlights are set to high, have you tried the adjustment wheel within the cab lefthand side of the steering wheel on the lower dash

#17 Re: General Discussion » Battery removal » 2020-12-11 20:14:29

Well I was disappointed finding out how complex "modern" auto electronics are becoming and knowing I would need to keep the battery charged, as I don't use the van regularly. Having a fear of BlackBox tech I researched the subject as best as I could, being retired I have time to indulge myself! https://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/foru … s/wink.png

i am so out of touch myself.  There was I thinking "just disconnect and whip it out" totally unaware of the potential electronic mayhem that might result.

#18 Re: General Discussion » Battery removal » 2020-12-09 22:16:21

Jump starting is not a problem, according to the owner's handbook. I have fitted a second battery to my van via 2 Isolator switches. With this setup, you can then charge the second battery with the isolators open, disconnect the charger then close the isolators, this will bring the van battery voltage very close to the second battery. Driving with the batteries paralleled works fine, increases the time before the dreaded Eco-Mode battery saver mode kicks in

Hope this helps Mick

Take care disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the Electronics don't like the battery being disconnected! Best to do a search for the correct procedure. From memory, this involves opening the driver's door and flipping the latch (so the ECU thinks it's closed) or opening any of the other doors or switching anything on, you then have to wait a few minutes for the ECU to go into sleep mode Bear in mind you won't be able to lock the doors with the key fob after the battery is disconnected

I seem to think the book says to remove the positive first, which seems to go against the general wisdom, its a quick release type so no spanners to short out. The space is very tight take care you don't put the leads and electronic components under any undue strain lifting the battery out. The leads should be put out of the way so they cant come into contact with the battery terminals you could wrap with dry rag

Reconnecting, again from memory flip the door latch reconnect leads with the key in the ignition but not switched on, turn the sidelights on, now turn the ignition on, and hold down the fob lock button for a few seconds. Remove the key try locking and unlocking the doors you should now be good to go!

Good luck.... Mick

I have a drivers seat that's out of my 2014 dispatch, the fabric is black-grey and in good condition although the foam has gone lumpy-weak on the edge where you slide in and out, its perfectly servicable The van had covered around 90k

#21 Re: Camper Conversions » Minimum Cooking Facilities - Legislation and Guidance » 2019-11-12 11:36:20

Hi Liz

Thanks for your tenacity digging out whats required as a minimum when converting a van to a camper, well done! I'm just starting out on a simple camper conversion, and will only need to boil a kettle within the van, preferring to cook outside when on site. As an aside when looking for a van I noticed that several professional vans had one one ring from new, now I see the reason why!!!

#22 Re: General Discussion » lift-ring reverse selector 6 speed + reverse » 2019-11-11 22:14:27

Fixed!

The gear knob pulls straight off, although it probably helps to give it a wiggle applying upward pressure at the same time. mine was on very tight and had to resort to heat before it would budge (gentle heat for a few minutes). The cause of the sticking was not obvious, but the splines attached to the gear stick which the lift ring slides on appear to be nylon, which is known to absorb water and swell. So I took emery cloth to it  until the lift ring slid smoothly. The reverse gear now works smoothly and drops out of reverse as you pass into neutral without having to push it back down ........Result!!!! smile

#23 Re: General Discussion » lift-ring reverse selector 6 speed + reverse » 2019-11-09 19:53:54

Vaz thanks for interest, i'll live with it for a bit, someone might have sorted it and come along in the mean time

#24 Re: General Discussion » lift-ring reverse selector 6 speed + reverse » 2019-11-08 22:57:04

Thanks for that
There's a plate on the top of the knob but no obvious fixings might just conceal a nut? I read a post saying it comes off with a quarter anti-clockwise turn, again not certain which model though

The lift ring on my 2014 Dispatch is sticking in the  up position you have to push it back down after reversing. It seems to be just the lift-ring itself ie with cable removed from the ring it still sticks, it seems to stick near the top of its travel, towards the bottom its freer  but not completely so. Has anyone had a similar problem? How do you remove the gear stick knob?
