As title does anyone use one
As we have just come away on holiday
The site won't allow, us to use, van as a campervan unless it has a drive away awning any ideas which will fit
Thanks

I would say any drive away awning will fit. Drive away awnings are universal and not van specific. Our vans are actually smaller than the type of van they are intended for, so any type that you can find will do the job.

I would be heading elswhere, but one option might be to buy a cheap tent and stick that on the pitch - unless they dont allow tents as well.

It's a haven site they say only one tent or one motorhome so as my dispatch was got ready for sleeping and sitting in I was going to put up a tent fixed to the van but they say that's not allowed so the tent has to be about 5ft away from the van
I said I was going to fix the tent canopy to the roof of van like a drive away not that's allowed thanks for your help

I think your man to talk with is Casper ... Not sure if his was drive away though.............
{I could be wrong though}
We didnt take awning option on buying Van ........
We subsequently used a tent like material for sun shade on a Spannish trip though but was a bit of a PITA [Time-consuming] in operation .............
I've since during lockdown have modified it's use to the awning rail rather than the eylets of before .....................
Also aquired a couple of adjustable height poles ..... to hopefully make life and useage easier ............
Time will tell ... [Downside is need some softish ground for guy ropes] ..............

Yes I know what you mean .......
we've only used sun shade a few times really
First time really was in a large Spannish rest area lay-by in the middle of nowhere next to the free motorway ...........
It was blistering hot......
Was the Second place on route we'd stopped at and was not any better.............
That place really stank of poo and pee as well and had Poo and pee around all the places you'd want to use [i.e.concrete piknik tables] ...why?............
[France can be just as bad but usually around the facilities ... what does that tell you]
we found a sort of grassy bit to use near exit for all of 15 or 20 minutes for a cuppa and breather [poor phrase] and the ground was rock hard ...................
IIRC ther was next to No shade from Van No rock available and you could feel the pegs bend as you beat lumps out them........
Second time was at her Fathers place Van sat for 4 or 5 days ground there was hard but nowhere near as bad ...........
Depending on time of day we got some extra welcome shade from a tree as well it gave onther option [Place for me to hide from sun] to sit and have a cuppa and/or some chorizo.............
Third time was down the Beach in the Costa Brava it sort of doubled as a kinda Cat Park along town Prom ..........
Our Second day there we stopped off further away from crowd .........
I found some biggish rocks near the road entrance ..........
Althought sand was packed down I still had to use the guy rope tensioners obviously to secure stones ..........
I then buired them but this was only partly succesful as every 15/20 minutes wanted fettled as it was breezy and things sagged and loosend off ......
I never really used it after that as a lot of the ground we stopped at was a tad sandy ........
Also on way home although it would have very handy The French Aires we used don't allow it and it's operation had become a real PITA by then ............
We did take all shade opportunities where possible
Here at Briviesca, Spain ... services just off Motorway
Behind and oposite us there was a British registered Transit with covers and window shades everywhere it looked as though they'd been out of uk for months/ever it was meant to be white but was turning yellowish with grime etc

Outdoor Revolution Cayman Classic. That's the one i'm looking at getting. Not massively cheap though at £320. But size wise, if you get the low version it should fit a Dispatch/Expert/Scudo without any issue and gives living space of 2.5mx2.5m, which should suffice for inner tents or a table and 2 chairs.
