2001 Dispatch 1.9 spares or incredibly brave repair

My beloved dispatch has reached a point where it's destined for the scrap yard, it needs a lot of welding, a new exhaust (if you're handy with a welder there's some of it on the M1 somewhere...) and makes some interesting noises when steering.

I've had it a good 6 years and it's been my daily driver. Love it to bits but time to move on (and i've just purchased a 2008 Citroen Dispatch).

There's some good bits:
Engine has about 85k on the clock and works like a charm
The alternator and battery are a year old
Rear doors have windows in them which can be salvaged
The seats are in good condition
Bulkhead (painted red to match the van)
Spare rear metal bumper
Valid MOT till January
It drives (i've been to scotland and northumberland in August, it's not the best but it got there and back!)

And there's some bad bits:
Rust
More Rust
Every panel looks as though it's been in a fight

I'm located in Doncaster, if there's no takers the poor thing will unfortunately have to take a permanent holiday to the scrap yard sad

If there's no interest i'm happy to let people rob some bits off the van before I get it scrapped. It has a working glovebox! tongue

im in need of a few parts but yours looks pre facelift?

i may need a gearbox but id have to research if it will fit a 2005 2.0hdi

i also need a replacemet gear shifter and dashclocks plus my seats are rough

can you give me some more details please?

Sorry didn't notice the messages!

I've still yet to sort out scrapping the van, it's currently sat on the driveway.

If anyone wants to grab some stuff or preferably take the van off my hands I can be available this weekend.

My van is indeed pre-facelift. Not sure if the gearbox would fit a 2.0 turbo

Have you still got the "spare" bumper.

And if so, is it steel?

I still have the spare bumper in my garage, it's the steel version (which are like sodding hens teeth!). It has the metal mounting brackets and the grey plastic side pieces.

What it doesn't have is the screws that attach the bumper to the mounting brackets, unsuprisingly the heads were rounded off and rusted to bits, they put up a heroic fight!

Damn, seems a real shame to scrap it at such a low mileage, and doesn't look too bad on the outside

Aye she's been a good one and i'll be sad to see her go. The cost of getting a new exhaust fitted plus the unknown of if it'll pass an MOT with rear end rot (and i know the passenger inner wheel arch is getting crusty, and it's making fun sounds when turning the steering wheel at low speeds...) meant I took the decision to replace her sad

With another Citroen Dispatch of course

If anyone does want it as is i've still a bit of time left on my insurance and i'm happy enough to drive her. Still half a tank of diesel in it too...

I'm overjoyed, she's been saved from the scrap yard! big_smile

She's been whisked away to continue life as a cheap camper, heres hoping I get to see that battered red dispatch again someday.
