Renault Scenic seats

Hi, my dad is wanting rid of his car. Its a low mileage Scenic and i was wondering if the front seats could be used in my Scudo? Anyone have any advice or know if its a possibility?

Re: Renault Scenic seats

Anything is possible mate. Have a look at the bolt to floor. Are they all flat onto the floor? If so take them out and if lucky they line up with your van homes and unlucky you get the drill out and drill through the floor. You will need a load bearing plate under the van. I think a two inch square should be enough for the MOT man. You can also look into taking the seat off the base and seing if they holes line up with your base. If you still have the double front passenger seat that does not have a base so you may be need to get one from scrap yard or ebay.

Re: Renault Scenic seats

Hi pal, as casper says anything is possible, if you get the base out of a two seater van for the passenger side too!

I'm guessing your considering the scenic seats because they swivel (captain seats) which is understandable but once you have the two bases you can build a simple frame and bolt it too them, theres four holes and actually perfect bases to build off, and weld any seat lower runners to them.

I chose Hyundai coupe leather seats and intend to add a universal swivel under the drivers seat at some point, but i am a steel fabricator by trade so probably see it from a different light!

I actually have a pair of scenic seats whch i intended to put in my old T4 before some fool offered me silly money for it big_smile
I didn't adapt these to my dispatch because there blue and ugly, but i can measure them up tomorrow if you like.

Re: Renault Scenic seats

I am a bit  bias, well alot bias toward the 806/synergie seats as they save alot of hassle  and can have thm in in a couple of hours ,
Water Gypsie was your T4 the 2.4 ? the 1.9 scudo has only  5 hp less !! I had a t3 with a tdi lump in it   (so mutch rot though !) and went through 3 gearboxs ,,  will never have another moneypits  dont know the fasination  either with VW vans with the engine up front  swb  T4,T5s are tiny inside

Re: Renault Scenic seats

I liked the look of the T3. Are they a pig to live with, would you still have it had it not been full of tin rot?

Re: Renault Scenic seats

They are great to drive  and very heavy duty suspension and stearing , unlike the T4 T5  but you can not get away from the rot on them  and tyhey are gettin on in years now My mate Syncro is in great nic but  has spent 12 grand on it over the past ten years  with recon engine  ,panels and such , But it it his hobbie mine was my only transport , Back to the qustion   If there where no rot and pigs were flying , and was standerd no engine mods and wasent my only transport   Yes i would have kept it , but can only run one  so had to go when cambelt snapped,, the scudo might not  be as cool but boy is it reliable:-)
got 700 quid for it   my thumb went through tail gate putting on trailer !!

It was 1.9 mate on a V plate, It was a decent van as low as could go,
It slipped a few teeth on the cambelt so sold it £1800 non runner!..
Don't get me wrong i like the vans but i don't like the scene much

Totally agree Monkeynut but 806 seats are like hens teeth! I've looked at buying a non runner but even they are commanding silly prices. Thanks everyone for the replies. Food for thought.

Shame you never joined about six weeks ago as there was one in the scrap yard at East Fortune. I did try but the nuts wanted an cordless angle grinder to get them out. Only 50 quid the guy wanted. Try sports car breakers out at Newbridge but go to it as they never update or answer the web site. I got quite a bit from them for little money. Oh and you know where Camps ind est is? First right after Wilkison along the A71. As if you were driving to East Calder. There is a scrap yard in there that is quite large and they are cheap. I got two back doors for £50 from them. Livingstone has a lot of E7 Taxis running around and these two scrap yards will be getting the end of line stuff. You want the roof lining out one as this saves a lot of hassle making a roof. I got mine from Newbridge. Think i paid £20 for it where they want 100+ on ebay.

BTW. Got a picture of the roof rack. I could do with an extra couple of bars of your fixing mounts are the same as mine.

Re: Renault Scenic seats

Hi Casper, sorry for the late reply, been busy working. Unfortunately the roof rack is gone. I ended up putting it on gumtree and it got snapped up the next day. I appreciate the info re scrappys, i'm familiar with the ones you mentioned and i'm not too far from Newbridge. I've always fancied going out for a nosey but seem to be getting dragged into doing family stuff wink. I'm liking your take on the livingston taxi thing though. Never thought about them all ending up in the West Lothian yards. Nice price for the 2 doors btw. Result!

Thats OK think im sorted now as the roof box i got makes things more sturdy.

Another thing if you find a taxi is there is a lot of panels you could have that would save you making wooden wheel arch covers or even covering up the steel uprights the seat belts are attached to. Look though the pictures in this post and you'll see what i mean

You been before? When in you see that section that is up a hill and normally it says private keep out. When i went at the start of the year only one Dispatch was out for braking yet the web site said it had three. The guy said just go up the private area as there was more up there but you need to walk around to find them as they are not in brand/model sections. Now when i go i always just walk up and if challenged just say the guy at the reception said it was OK. That area is awash with vans.

Also remember the one at Camps Ind Est. Its only 5 minutes away taking the back road. Come out SCB and turn left up the hill under the M8. That road goes all the way up to the lights at Wilkison. Turn right at the lights then right again 200 yars or so outside Wilkison taking the camps sign. Left into the Ind Est and just keep driving though till you see it as you cant miss it. This yard is not in sections so walk around and ask if you dont see anything as you will see another yard across the road. This belongs to them also and is private as a lot of insurance claims are stored in this yard but its also for over stock.

Good luck

Re: Renault Scenic seats

I managed to get to SCB on Saturday. Spent a good couple of hours raking the 4 vans that were there. 1 was an old E7 taxi so got some rear wheel arch mouldings amongst a load of bits and bobs. Unfortunately there were no sliding doors with windows so i'll need to try elsewhere. If or can i put glass on the side rear panels? I'm going to look at Synergie seats soon so hopefully they'l be in too!

Re: Renault Scenic seats

Was the E7 the light blue one with a burnt out cab? I moved a door into the white van with the cooler on top. Both were there with no dents. Had i not put glass in mine i would have had them. Did you not look up the other yard?

Anyway. Depending on your spends you can get smoked glass in your doors. Either a kit or get a man in. I am sure the price £150 was bouncing around per side for the kit. I just got windows from a boat and stuck them in

Re: Renault Scenic seats

The e7 was red, there wasnt much left internally and im now on the hunt for some headlining. Liking your blog. Food for thought. I didn't go up the hill but plan to go back at the earliest opportunity before the cold weather sets in. Don't suppose you have a link for the smoked glass windows? Can't see anything online.

Re: Renault Scenic seats

Forgot to say. Over the Bridge in Inverkething there is also another scrap yard with a lot of vans. How exactly you get in i dont know as i seen it when on the train. All i can say its close (North side) to the train station as i seen it when rolling out the station a few weeks ago.
