Re: 200k

Well done Brenda! These engines will keep going well past 200k, I wish you both many more miles

The most impressive thing here is your odometer still works perfectly  lol

Re: 200k

Cheers Ken!  Long may these vehicles run, i love mine. Brenda's engine is a transplant and has only covered about 90k. But the gearbox is the original.

I went for green LEDs for my dials and white for the odometer. It had been out of action for several years.

So many jobs to do on this van, but i am a crap mechanic (not a mechanic at all in fact) so i pay my mate to do all the critical stuff.  Brenda has a leaky fuel pump and a leaks oil - the underside of the subframe is covered in it.

But i'm doing the camper conversion myself

Re: 200k

Congrats.  Most of the Taxis of this type seem to be good until 400k.  At a past job we had a Transit Luton that crossed 700k without any issue.  It's all about maintenance.  Keep the rust under control and stay on top of the mechanical side, service regularly and it should keep going for a very long time.

I would love to know what mine has done.  Odometer hasn't worked for about a year.  It worked at the MOT last year apparently, but then ceased to work sometime over the summer before I bought it.  Mileage was 174k last year, so it must be heading towards 200k by now.

How did you fix yours?  Was it just a bulb issue, or any electronics issues?

Re: 200k

Well done ........
I have in the past also taken a photo of a milestone mileage ...................
My favorite vehicles to use are the van and the 306 the van at 16 years old has only got 102,000 miles approx as it last showed on it's late 2018 MOT just short of 99,000mls and then covid hit and two binnacles later and after having the milage sorted on the first binnacle and nothing wrong with it when I changed it as at time I thought faulty Speedo tookit out and gave it away ... Anyhow now mileage works along with the speedo when it feels like it and we've been stuck at home ever since................

Although the 306 has been on retirement duties for about 6 or 7 years now  it's got just over 212,000 mls and still runs strong and at 170,000 mls took us down to Galicia and the med in Spain without a second thought [That would have been the last year it averaged easily 20,000mls PA] But alas failed her last test a good few months ago now due to rusty brake pipes wanting changed ..................... both van and 306 have a version of the DW8 fitted
Garages just now are so So buzy including both my friends ... The memsabs car took about a month to get in and as we knew it wanted some stuff done and it took another 7 weeks to get mot'd and that [if it did any good]  after a bit of pushing for the parts and to get mot done .... we've now had it back about a month and even on friday past when we went back out to garage I still haven't got a bill to pay for mot or work done yet ...................
I've also got a 65 reg car along with this lot and it has covered 17, 400mls nearly last I looked and if nothing else it should tell you how much I enjoy driving it compared to the others ....................
Anyway well done for reaching and having the photo of that milestone milage and many more happy miles to come along .............

Had to pull over in Germany to get this picture

Clocks-100000.jpg

That was the last bus. Present one is only about 86k but as 22mpg it can bloody stay that low at todays fuel prices  lol

Funny that, I didn't notice.

I was far too distracted by the spliff temperature gauge.

Funny also i was going to contact you the other week as we are having another meet with our LDV group in four weeks. Was going to suggest if you are around Tibbie on the Sunday then have a prober blether over a few beers but unfortunately the wife has to work the following Monday so its straight home but......
We will be doing a lot more at home this year rather than a euro trip as well as another couple of meets on our group and Tibbie being a great place to just stop and relax for the night before home and reality of life, so next time ill give you a shout and we can talk shite over a log fire and beer. I may even show you my spliff temperature gauge  tongue

Re: 200k

Currently in N Yorks, will be back at Tibbies at some point in the next few weeks.

Also thinking of a trip across your way in summer.  Eyemouth to Aberdeen.  Hoping it may be a bit quieter as the west and north will again be overrun with Winnebago Warriors.
