Hmm think I'm may scrap my mk1/facelift almost dispatched, decisions.

Considering scrapping my van as it's still off the road, needs more welding on sil land/or fiberglass filler lol, rear panhard beam or bush, wheel bearing which I've got sat there, 2 front tyres, not sure what else but given I never get any better than 30MPG regardless of fuel advance etc etc etc I think it's time to let it go.

What's peoples experiences with the 2008-2016 variants of these? I know the 1.6 is useless, have been looking at 2014/2016 2.0 ones as finance wise they are now reasonable given the mileage on them (7k for one with 53k on the clock!), and I'm quite sure if I get something that new it will last till the finance is paid off on it, looking to use it as an almost daily driverand /or camper but mostly for when my 21yr old golf is needing fixed (every month at the moment, getting boring, but I'll no sell/scrap my golf as its too much fun when it's working right lol).

Edit: Just thinking what it's had in recent times, timing belt/pump done at 107k, (now 124k I think) disks/pads rusty but like still new and will clean up plenty meat, recent wishbones, recent drive shafts/cv's, new alternator from a 2.0, umma few new bits fuel filter etc wise, new stop solenoid wired to gearbox, ummmm ummm, heater fans recently fixed, central locking works on all doors, umm, recently serviced is as in only done 200 mile then went off road, probably more I've forgotten about......faaaaaaark maybe i should just fix the bloody thing, decisions decisons lol.

Circling back to me scrapping mines if I do go that route would anyone here want it instead maybe? Been offered £400 to scrap it, considering I paid £150 for it 3 or 4 years ago, it's tempting.

Who offered you 400 quid for scrap, never SCB. Almost scrapped the wifes car today as it failed the MOT but ended up getting the parts ordered and eek it for another year but if 400 quid was on the table.

Aw mate I cant mind now i closed all the crap I was looking at,  I'm not loaded in any way but the 2014-2016 cit/pug/scud 2.0 versions seem OK price wise on finance for summit around 60/70K miles maybe £7.5 maybe at 8 at a push depending on miles/spec) - Prices all over place depending on where you look.

Ah no, but sounds for the best.

I test drove a T4 with the 2.4 engine. I don't know which was less powerful between that and the DW8  monkey

How much did you get the T4 for? Pics welcome

I'm buying it though a mate at 0%, lets just say it's a good 3-4k under market value wink - This is a 2.4, just had new injectors/pump/timing kit etc, gets to 60mph way quicker than my dispatch ever did and does not sound like I'm wringing it to within an inch of its life, win win for me lol. They started converting it to a camper then lost interest after the injector pump issues.

Well I'm very jealous, that looks like a very nice van. Free of the usual showy Transporter mods and looks in good nick

I know it's not a quick one, but maybe you could help this guy out with a fuel pump?

Bye Bye shtiroen almost dispatched, uyou were very good while you lasted and it's a shame it come to this, but need t he space etc etc or I would have tried to fix it eventually.

I'll try my best to hang about on th forums still, if I can offer any advice, thank you Ken and all the hard core regulars for helping me with stuff, it;s been much appreciated and would like to stay in touch, I may haave a vw now but its still all about doing it as cheap as hell to get away from it all, I hope it wil serve me well that way, but we shall see haha - I'll be sure to tell you its downfalls anyway.

You guys are awesome, thank you for being there/useful.
