Showing the difference between the old and new types of rear shock. The change is late 1997. The longer ones are the new, they have their bottom mounts further down and forward compared to the old. Useful to know when you change rear axle.

As it comes to the parts, normally OEM specs are counter-referenced by re-manufacturers, which (sometimes) give accurate specs
Have you got those on hand?

slightly longer is nice.. so long as they are the same height when compressed it does not matter
my old fiat panda 4x4 is using non standard shocks which are slightly longer but it still works perfectly
ive not really used my van for a while now

Words of wisdom: Internally rust proof the sills and subframe! both skins!!. There's always user serviceable parts inside. "Oh that shouldn't have happened".

Sorry for late respons, have been busy lately! I do not have OEM specs at hand, but I know that the new type is about 35mm longer than the old ones, and the change is late 1997. The newer ones will fit and work great on older vehicles, and that's why many parts dealers don't stock the old type any more. But if you try to fit the old type shocks to a newer car (or just a newer type rear axle, as I did), the whole van will be sitting on the rear like a dog doing it's business!

This would be perfect for getting my van level for sleeping! I always have to park with the rear on a downhill to level the floor out
