Any aging bikers who know their engines?

I have bought a cutaway engine unseen on impulse.

I really wanted a static steam engine but got outbid and bought this in my temper:-

I though Triumph at first with the triangle timing chest but the barrel looks more BSA?
Very lopsided look without the push rod covers and the barrel looks massive for the bottom end.
Anyone any ideas?

Re: Any aging bikers who know their engines?

it looks a lot like the old AJS 350. its just not right though, i wonder if its an early/late variant.
some older Nortons with the 350cc engine use the triangle timing gear covers...

not old just have an interest.. smile

Words of wisdom: Internally rust proof the sills and subframe! both skins!!. There's always user serviceable parts inside. "Oh that shouldn't have happened".
