Hello!
So 2005 dispatch 2.0hdi - in tank sender unit
I had a problem a little while ago....non starter, that turned out to be the ecu not getting 12v, now resolved. While is was off the road I had a fuel pump pressure low on the code reader....so I changed it, now I've done it 3 times because they've failed
Fuel sender unit 1 - this was a cheap £60 amazon prime next day special. All was good until 2 month down the line then it had failed again....after reading all the 2* reviews saying the same, fair enough.
Fuel sender unit 2 - this was £160 starline pump from euro car parts. All was good until Sunday just gone then it wasn't. Surely its not the pump again....yep it is
Fuel sender unit 3 - as number 2 is under warranty this is "free" but now im wondering why has it failed, have I just been unlucky?
So I had to change the plug out because it was all corroded and bad connections. I'd cut the cables and just used connector blocks on sender number 2 wrapped up in tape could this of been the cause? It was on the 'better weather' job list, the cables looked okay.
Cables are now soldered, heat shrink and water proof taped.
Earth is fine
Power is fine and turns on/off during ignition
All fuses are good
I never go below ¼ of a tank or run it dry
Runs fine...when it runs
Just a curiosity post really to see what you think or if its just another bad luck spell for me.
Thanks!
