With the news that four major world cities are to ban diesel vehicles, my question is this: what (if any) petrol engines will fit into my Mk 1 Dispatch 900?

I would presume as i have the expert that a 1.8 306 would drip in. Wiring loom may be an issue but i am sure there was a petrol version. Could be a euro model though. I would imagine when they say city i would presume city centre and not be hitting the panic button yet also i have no intention of visiting them anyway and did Paris in the 90's

They did produce petrol versions and as these vans are based on 806, Ulysses and Synergy I'd say engines will be same as them..... Although I can't ever remember seeing a petrol engine optioned van......
I'm thinking that looking about at what's on offer now or year or Two old is likely to be what I'll have about then and anyway this started a while ago with congestion charge and now with low emission zones ... So in all probability you won't get to drive into town anyway without paying through the nose with whatever fueled vehicle
I converted a car about 10/15 years or so ago (All be it was a V8) to LPG when it was said it was way to go , But they pulled the initiative and we're no further forward now, Same with E30 bio fuels..... fell flat on it's face..... No infrastructure to follow it through

1.8 petrol...hmmm....will do some research on the 806. I like the HDi engine that's in my van and would hate to lose it's low end torque. Thanks for the replies guys

BTW it will be quite a few years before any of this banning will start and even when it does why worry? I tend to park at a campsite and walk/bus into a town anyway. How long do you intend on keeping the van?
