Handbrake suddenly sticking

I've just been shunting back and forth and I notice my handbrake lever doesn't drop all the way down, and the handbrake is stickign slightly - I can feel slight resistance when setting off

I can push my handbrake lever to the bottom, but there's resistance and it springs back up a couple of centimetres when I let go

Driving with the handbrake lever pushed down doesn't reduce the resistance on the brakes

First port of call, can anyone get a picture of this from the underside of their van? It's next to the bar that takes the tension from the cable and splits it off to the left wheel.

It seems to be detached from the rubber bar thing coming from the van body

I can't imagine it does much because it's flexible rubber, but I'm guessing it's not right that it's detached

I found this diagram. It's number 12 - a "Fixing Strap"

Re: Handbrake suddenly sticking

Update, I did some fiddling with the handbrake cables under the van and it seemed to ease off when I wiggled the left wheel cable

I've just taken it for a 10 minute test drive though, and deliberately didn't use the brakes and got my thermal camera out. Safe to say they're sticking

Re: Handbrake suddenly sticking

I've been playing about with this. Jacked it up at the back and indeed I can't easily spin the wheels by hand

Wiggled the cables though and the wheels freed up until I pull the handbrake lever again

Loosening one wheel also loosens the other, so I'm gonna replace all three cables and hope for the best
