TinTent Two

I missed out on a master in Kirkcaldy as i had no transport to get through and it sold. Seen and like the look of this when it was put on ebay and was keeping an eye on it.

image.jpg

Well i won it. OK i paid £1141 but i was willing to go to 1200 quid. Yea its a 2001 minibus you say but its in good nick with a wee bent on the other side what 90% of will push out. It only got 82k on the clock. No timing belt history so unless the miles are written on the block i shall get that done as it would have been due at 70k. Advert says heater in the back to fingers crossed i have a diesel heater.

big_smile Chuffed.

Its in fecking Leicester Lol.

Re: TinTent Two

Didn't take you long!

Looks good.  Will seem like tons of space to play with after the Expert.  Stand up height all over?

Had you down as a minimal windows sort of guy though.  What sort of layout you thinking of with this one?

Diesel heater would be a big bonus.

Re: TinTent Two

I am thinking the back two side windows will be covered up as i want units on one side for the storage of clothes. Another fold down bed like what i had but more though into how it folds to save floor space. Behind the drivers seat at that window will be the cooker and sink. Bin the double passenger seat for a single. I am not sure of length but if ten foot in the back i font think i will bother about swivel. I will need a fixed table and i think i may put in one fold down taxi type seat so to show the DVLA two seats at the table. I may also cover the back doors and only have storage access through them for gas and water. It all depend on when i get the proper measurements. What is the bonus i have a pop up sky light so i think all i need is a mushroom vent on the roof over the cooker. It also has a full roof lining with lights and speakers.

Ill have a better idea when i get my grubby hands on it. If work picks up and i am running out of time for our jolly to Italy i may throw a cheap hippy van together and do a rolling project over two years.

Re: TinTent Two

Non starter. Phoned the guy this morning to organise pick up and he told me his mechanic is on it as it wont start. Turning fine but no fire sad Give him a few hours with no joy so decided not to bother. Might be something silly buy may also be a nightmare.

Hunt for TinTent two continues.

Re: TinTent Two

Must be a disappointment but better now than a week after you bought it.

I had similar happen once and strongly suspected they thought I won it too low or had a better offer.

Re: TinTent Two

Aye winning to low was going through my mind also but i think 1100 quid would be about right for an 01 motor. He also had it starting at 99p so would you take that gamble if you had a price in mind?

No gamble if you don't intend to honour it though.

Won't start... someone bumped it... dog ate it...

Nothing on ebay surprises me anymore.

I said to the guy last night "Ill phone in the morning 9 - 9:30" two numbers in the advert, One giff gaff and the other vodaphone and both just going to answerphone. It must have been 11 before i got him to answer so i think my mind was made up at that point that the guy was a scammer or just a dick who cant run a business.

Seen a nice looked after transit that i am looking to make a bid for. Awaiting more pictures of the cab and if as looked after as the outside then i think i shall go for it. Only the 2.0 85bhp model but apparently i can get the ECU played with for £75 and turn that into 115 BHP with better mpg thrown in smile

Re: TinTent Two

TinTent take two is another fail. Bloody fuel pump this time. Lucky as 10 minutes later i would have been on the train. Think this one was a better offer as i did manage a bit off the price.

Re: TinTent Two

I used to drive a 1993 one of them absolutely f@cking hated it! It had the Peugeot engine though and was shit slow, yours is the tranny 2.5 one I believe did they get the ford gearbox too?
The running gear was the weak point If I remember right, propshaft rear diff etc and rot, but yours looks fairly rot free from the pics.
One thing I really did like about the LDV was the adjustable timing on the windscreen wipers

Re: TinTent Two

The Pug engine is a shocker. That was changed for the Banana Transit one what was some 70 off bhp. This is the Transit 2.4 Duratorq engine what gives 90bhp. Not great as it 3.5 tonne but a re map takes it up to 125bhp  big_smile  It will plod along at 80mph as is but i hate slowing down at hills and head winds. I want a steady 70 on long journeys so going for the re map.

Lots of welding done for last MOT. Back brakes overhauled with new handbrake cable. School bus and regularly serviced with something like 93k on the clock. MOT till September. Once work picks up again i think i am going to enjoy this one. May be a throw together and a running project, all depends on how good a summer we get. (Gardener)

Re: TinTent Two

Yeah the pug engine was a complete mismatch, I could be wrong but I think it was a 1.9 turbo (it was 20 odd years ago)
Anyways good look with the project pal

Re: TinTent Two

Dunno, I also owned a LDV 200 xreg which had the DW8 engine but with LDV box and rear wheel drive It was so much slower than the dispatch with the same engine. that Sherpa gearbox and drivetrain must have been sucking all the power out of it is my only uneducated conclusion
