Hey,
I've had my electrics kit delivered. I'm trying to route my cable from the Starter battery on the near side through to the passenger footwell. (along the step>then behind the seats > to the leisure batt behind the drivers seat.)
I can see where there's a big grommet thing with a bundle of wires going through the bulkhead near the scuttle from the engine compartment behind the engine fuse box. I think I can see what looks like the same bundle going through from the other / either side (behind the cab fuse box/glove box area where theres the removable panel just under the windscreen) but can't see any decent way of accessing it without removing the whole dash board. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing and if so, how did you go about it? Do you need to take off the whole dash to get the wires through to the engine from the cab?
It feels like there may be a length of wire hidden between these 2 'grommets' (big ones) and i may not be looking at the same one from either side.
I have a guide wire going from inside the bulkhead, down to the footwell, so that bit's sorted pretty much. I'm struggling to find a way through the bulkhead into the engine compartment.
Would love to see if anyones done this too? How would you recommend getting power into the back of the van from the starter batt?

I found a hole, as per this thread http://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/forum … php?id=140 , but nobody else has found it. The easiest way to check is to look for the cable going through in the driver footwell (maybe the bonnet release cable), and the hole will be in the same place on the passenger side. I had thought about putting an AGM battery inside but ended up squeezing a regular battery into the engine compartment http://blue-van.blogspot.co.uk/p/fittin … ttery.html

Brilliant thanks, I'll have a look for the 'mirror image' hole to the bonnet release! fingers crossed!
on the picture in that thread, does it drop down toward the floor somewhere just behind the gold (suspension?) pin?
I think I know where you mean I'll have to pull the floor lining back and get a spicy hand haha
I did see the possible route down the wing like Casper, but as is said, water+electrics could get interesting - I feel like this is a later option after exhausting other possibilities. May leave that one for a rainy day, so to speak... or not!
P.s.
I'm liking the adaptation of the windscreen wash bottle filler. I think i've read about this spot for a 2nd battery before, possibly it was yours!

You can also get in the inner wing going round the back/side of the headlamp. You will need to put a rubber buffer in the sharp body edges where the cable wraps round but its an option.

aye, I thought it looked like a really simple easy option, the grommets that are by the door hinges look almost like they were made for it.
I got a torch in there and thought I could already see some factory fitted wires in there already (through the slim gap i could see through) so possibly not even an issue if it's what peugeot are doing too!?
They potentially could have been tubes/pipes though, didn't get a good look. Suppose there is the indicator wiring at the very least and it's not like there would be any exposed wires/metal or anything. It would probably be fine.

No, it's pretty much level with where you can see the wires heading.

Another big thanks for the battery relocation details tee-cee. It was on my list but you have saved me much thinking.
Same goes for a lot of the other ideas on your build blog. Very helpful and not just automatically jumping at over the shelf offerings which are often far from ideal.

Thanks for your feedback. The blog was mainly to document the process for my reference - and if anyone else can get something out of it then that's great.

Had a little look last night for the opposite side bonnet release cable hole but couldn't see it. There's a big black box I don't know what it is, something to do with the heater at a guess, but maybe not.
Going to have another from the engine side armed with a head torch but might have to wait til I can get on it in daylight.
I did come across this thread where someone else has taken the wing/fender route and been ok with it.. http://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/forum … .php?id=80
Might end up doing that if no joy soon.

On a related note:
Does anyone know if there is a hole at the top of the 'C' pillar (at the back of the sliding doors) where you can run wires through? from floor to ceiling?
I've tried to feed something down it but it just comes straight across the top out the other side. I got a little inspection mirror to try to get a better look but couldn't see. tricky to get a good view in there.

Hi, you won't be able to see the hole from the inside because it will be covered with foam insulation. In fact I used a knitting needle to poke a hole through it, from the engine bay. Also I tried to feed wires through the top of the "C" pillar, without success.

Thanks for your help. I've got a pretty hefty meat skewer for the BBQ with a good point on it that hopefully will do the job. Shame about the pillar, might get the drill out. we'll see.
