Scudo sliding door catch not catching!

ok, so today I closed my driver-side sliding door, drove off and looked in my mirror only to see the door slide open again.

stopped, pulled over and tried again.

basically the door catch isn't catching so i had to tie the door closed until i got home.

had a quick muck about when home and eventually it DID catch. now afraid to open it again!

anyway - will take a proper look this eve - just wondered if anyone else had had this problem.

spose it could be the catch itself - or maybe the door handle mechanism isn't releasing properly.

will report back ...

My money would be on the door handle mechanism! They're just ... flaky! devil

Good luck!

Re: Scudo sliding door catch not catching!

flaky is a polite way of putting it!  big_smile

however, looks like this time it really is the door catch. I've had the door skin off and have tried manually moving the rod to activate the catch.

it seems to move fine but nothing seems to make the catch close over and lock the door shut.

so my two sliding doors are currently ratcheted together to keep the driver-side door closed.

meantime - i've ordered a replacement catch from ebay. £9.50.

fingers crossed - hoping it's not too messy a job to replace. actually thinking about it - this is going to need two pairs of hands - i'll report back!

Re: Scudo sliding door catch not catching!

well ..

i was right - i did need an extra pair of hands to replace the door catch.

good news is that the problem is now solved! it was pretty quick and easy in the end with two people.

door catches perfectly and stays shut.

the even better news is that the previously dodgy handle for the door now works perfectly too.
