DIY Welding

I did it at school and remember nothing and i did arc two years ago and made bigger holes than i was trying to weld    However. As some may know having an LDV or a Transit you will no doubt need welding done. Scroll down my blog and you will see my worst areas

I have decided to learn a new skill so this Friday i am ordering a MIG welder as a basic kit can be had from 80 quid

My understanding is you need much more than an £80 unit. If you’re welding 3mm + plate, ok, but bodywork needs something more sophisticated. I get someone to do my welding jobs, and he fixes something for £100 that I could make cost a lot more to fix. Great to learn welding, but vehicles are ok to do once you’ve practised on someone elses.

Managed to get my Convoy through two MOT's with my welding and the wifes car what initially failed on holes near the belt. Managed that with my little 80 quid gas less mig. Got a small hole in the convoy chassis to weld for next MOT so bought a 2nd hand £20 arc for that job. It will wait till the weather gets warmer.
