2006 1.9 Dispatch electrical issues- Help please

Not sure where to start? I've just bought Dispatch 2006 1.9 and obviously didn't check it out properly before handing over my hard earned.

Issues I have..

Interior light wasn't working until this evening when all of a sudden every time I used my indicators the interior light flashed in time with the indicator

The fan blower wasn't working so I pulled every fuse and inspected.. All good. A couple of days ago the blower started blowing cold on full. Wont turn off with controls and also doesn't blow hot air.. Just cold.

Some of the dash indicator lights I.e glow plugs etc don't illuminate

Central locking doesn't work, although I'm not too sure if the van has C/L

All door locks just spin when trying to lock, having to lock individually from the inside and get out through the rear door.. Having to leave the rear unlocked

I have checked the fuses, connectors and they all look good, I would be really grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance

The locks spinning probably means that they are not matched to that key, why don't you replace them with those from your breaking van?

I'm pretty sure this is a common thing to happen, luckily I've been spared on my van but I think my 806 had it, and I've heard of it on lots of Dispatch/Expert/Scudos. You could try pushing the key in a bit. But I agree, take em out of the spares one, job done.

Locks/barrel are not always the issue. This is the barrel in your vans.

A: slits into the plastic on the back of the door handle housing so when you turn the key it turns the plastic and an arm working the lock mechanism. The plastic in the handle wears over time.

B: Spring clips spring out when you put the lock in holding it in place. There rust or the plastic groove it slots into is worn.

Glue in place or take out barrels and check plastic housings and if need be order new handles.

Thank you all for your advice, the locks on the old van work however they can be opened with any key or object that fits in the lock. I've ordered a full set of locks of eBay, I think that will solve the problem. I'm far more concerned with the electrical issues... Bloody hate electrics

Re: 2006 1.9 Dispatch electrical issues- Help please

Just bought a dispatch myself with a dodgey alternator. Reading up about this problem today I'd suggest you have a look whether the headlights are pulsing with the engine - sign of a knackered alternator (there is a red [Battery] warning light but if they're not working it may not be lighting up) if the alternator isn't producing enough charge then the interior light may be showing that there isn't enough power there for it and the indicator lights at the same time.
Not an expert by any means so just a suggestion since I glanced at this post.

50% of these vans I've looked at over the last few days have issues with the door locks - apparently they're very easily broken so not to be relied upon if there's anything of value in the van -  I've the same issue with the one I've just picked up so I'm not going to bother fixing them and go straight for fitting some padlocks on the outside.

Mangozapp you're a genius!!! Lol. I've actually bought a multimeter just to help me out with the electrics on this van. So following your advice I had a reason to get it out of the box.. I checked the voltage of the new van running and got a reading of 12.4v wasn't too sure if this was correct so I fired up my old damaged Expert and got a reading of over 14v. So I'm guessing you're right and my alternator is on its way out? Will swap it over tomorrow and keep you posted.

Thanks for your advice

Aye 12.4 running is fooked. 13.8 ish and no lower but low 14.v would be desirable. Also worth taking apart and cleaning the earth strap. Battery and bodywork end and look under the van as you may have a 2nd earth from gearbox to chassis. Clean that also.
