Central Locking

Local Hermes courier has a 2017 Expert. Today he had the engine running with front doors shut but sliding doors open. He says he has done this since the van was new but today the van locked him out. As i chat to the bloke and he knows i can be handy with spanners he came to my door for help. Did not want to close sliding doors just in case they locked so just unbolted the bulkhead for him. Is this a common problem with the later vans or has he a gremlin? I was teaming it down today if that helps
