Hi,
I just bought a '96 9 seater 1.9TD (as a family car, but plan to do some kinda soft-camper transformation).
My speedometer didn't work so I removed the instrument cluster and found that the speedo cable is missing its core.
The problem is, from beneath and from the engine bay I can't see where it goes?
OK I guess it ends somewhere on the transmission but where?
Does anybody have any idea (or even better some picture!) how and where should I start?
(yes, I downloaded the manual but I couldn't find the corresponding part in it)

If outer cable is empty try puting a inner cable in if you haven't already.............
I'd have thought it would terminate where electric pick up is on later vans and that's shown on the Citroen service box data thing IIRC

The other end of the speedo cable goes into a drive unit very close to where the O/S driveshaft goes into the gearbox.

Thanks! It took me closer... but...
When I tried to follow the old cable I found it was attached to this strange little can over the fuel filter.
It's a dead end definitely, but what's this? An extender?
It also seems to have an electric connection to somewhere.
I still can't see the endpoint in gearbox. Is it on the longer or the shorter driveshaft's side?

Could that can thing be a sort of converter to correct for a different gearbox or final drive speed?
Looks like the inlet and outlet are offset allowing for a gear drive inside to transfer and alter the rotation speed.

Yeah, probably...
But there shouldn't be too much use of it because everything works fine and the speedo seems to be almost correct compared to GPS.
Anyway, thanks guys for the infos! It's been a quick fix (after I finally lifted the car higher and had enough space underneath...)
