Puff Puff

So, i'm driving around with my 'new' DW10 and fresh turbo fitted. The performance and acceleration of the van can now be described as stunning, in comparison with before. But naturally, there's a new problem (being a Citroen).

Puffs of black smoke under acceleration. No smoke at idle, nothing visible under moderate acceleration. But give it more beans and there is a definite blast of black sooty smoke. If I push the throttle all the way down, it's definitely noticeable.

Should i worry, particularly about the emissions test at MOT, or is this normal?

Initially check for damage to the pipe between the turbo and intercooler

Cheers, off to see my engineer friend tonight. Will be gutting to have spent £1500 on this van, only to have it fail on emissions. Fingers all crossed

I'd say its relatively normal to get a puff of black smoke from a turbo diesel when giving it the beans ............. But the question is how thick is smoke and how long does it last ...............Hence why they use a light meter probe thingy up it's jacksey and they give it the beans............ but not under load of even pulling an empty van (under load is more likley to create smoke)............

{Although a non turbo I can if caught in the correct lighting at night.......  see some diesely vapour from mine under load while pulling [Usually up hill  from vehicle lights behind] even if no smoke seen in normal light..........But every diesel I've ever had has done this ......... Some more than others}

Mine does this. If I put it in 3rd and floor the throttle, it makes the people sitting on my tail drop back quite quickly.
