Could be anything. What trade was it used for? Racking, etc, tends to be mounted lengthwise.
Would be handy start if you wanted to fit a bed though.

Previous owner had a security firm, locks everywhere! Just wondered if it was extra security for spare wheel carrier? Seems a bit extreme.

OAT looks to be on a fairly decent perception.......
I'll fall in to his camp of possibly racking..........
It looks like Unistrut to me......... And with it so close and across rear doors Was it a base for racking and the carrying of product? ..............
