My favourite four letter word...

PASS!!
She's passed the MOT once again, three minor advisories: corrosion, oil leak, grease on my brake pipes.
Well that's the summer holiday sorted!!

Re: My favourite four letter word...

It's that time of year again already............

I've got the 306 on Thusday and Van is due on about 24 Aug ... So approx 4 weeks for it then another come September ... Our other car that we didn't realise at time 3 or 4 years ago I think it was when it needed it's first MOT with us anyway ..............
Which meant we used it on and off for a couple of weeks without test ..........
And we thought we had until the November which was about 1 year after we'd bought it ...............
My fault I guess ...What an imbecile not checking up when test is required .........

Do you think I'll go blue holding my breath till Thusday? ...................

Re: My favourite four letter word...

Why do the give advisories for grease on brake pipes.  On metal pipes you get corrosion, so grease is a buffer to stop that happening.

The inspector cannot inspect the brake pipes if they are covered in grease. Probably think that the grease is there to hide corrosion.

I've had that very advisory on my 306 this last test over lockdown and as Scotchjoe says for that very reason ..............
That he can see pipes ...........
But not condition under substance .............

As I said 306 was up for test and I got a fail funnily enough on this very subject of rotten brake pipes ........

306 is still in test till the 9th [Don't think I can still use it. It's not like before] ... But 306 is not front line anymore So I've decided as van needs test shortly [and this in 12 years IIRC of 306 the first fail  ... other than cracked ordered and awaiting windscreen fitting] to to put efforts into Van first then get round to Brake pipes on 306 inc rubber pipes ... The rubber's OK but the feruls are rusty and we know what'll happen as soon as they see a spanner ....................

My fault [What an imbecile] as I did nothing about advisory over lockdown and both have done next to nothing mileage wise ................
The 306 did under 600 miles instead of its usual 2 or 3,000 miles from test to test and Van won't be any better I don't think ...............

Re: My favourite four letter word...

It happened on Wednesday I got a pass on Vans MOT .................
And is being used again as a spare bedroom again for a couple days ..........
It did come with a couple advisories ...........

The standard~ Offside Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material ............
So little I didn't  notice it or even mentioned when it was checked over ..........

The other is a 2 or 3 inch section he is not happy with where new sills are attached ...........
It's been marked off in yellow and apparently I'll see when it's cleaned off ........
{Listed as ~ Offside Inner Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security body sill} ..........
We'll need to look see - I'm unsure what there is to see as it's so thick with black waxoil and other oily thick sticky stuff on the sill there ..........

I've now had a email notifying me the other car is Due MOT in 5 weeks ...Lovely ..............

OH ...AND  have I been polishing it [Van] ...No was my reply .............
