SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc.

Hi All,

Tonight I went to start the van again after being at shops and blower motor stopped, started digging through the fuse box and found a 20amp that's associated with the cig lighter circuit (I have usb sockets on it for devices), changed that, cig ligter started working again but no blower motor and battery light on constantly with engine running, I don't have a multimeter with me but the engine still starts and as far as I can tell it's stil charging as there's no dimming of lights revving/ using full beam etc etc, engine off or on all the lights are the same.... the only anomoly possibly is this 32v fuse, anyone know what it's for?

I have heard something making a noise near the fuse box when going over rough ground, when I hear that the battery light goes off, so I'm not sure there, most of time light stays on - Any advise on any of this welcomed lol.

Best,
-Stu.

This does sound consistent with I had my alternator issues. That signal wire that was broken between the alternator and the battery light, when I made the connection a relay clicked in the glove compartment and the light went out.

That would be my first check, see if that wire has continuity. For me it was broken where it crimps (or rather wasn't crimped) onto the ring terminal thing

Hi bud, I managed to get home running it off the 2 spare atteries I had, the alternator is goosed I think, no voltage change and engine dies soon as + terminal removed.

I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back, it's neding rear panhard etc as well so... is it worth spendingon, i dunno lol.

Ah, I never considered that the alternator might actually not be working neutral Sounds annoying to have to deal with

Be a shame to let it die for an alternator though, easy to replace yourself if you get one from a scrapper

I've since read how to change the brushes be it on a bosch or valeo so will give that a go when I get paid, will take pics if there is interest.

Re: SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc.

I seem to remember a blower change on a Van years ago at my friends garage...........
Blower and fan supplied by owner of Van [IIRC it was used as a builders van] .............

About a week after blower was replaced there was complaints of it not working ...........
But Blew every time it was tested and Van returned........

Until Owerner said it allways ran but blew Nothing...........
IIRC ... It turned out he'd bought it on eB** and its former life had been in a "Eurovan" ............

And apparently their fitted with two blowers ......
And he'd purchased the second one from other side of vehicle......

With the blower drum reversed fitting ... Mouse wheel thingy and it was sucking air and not blowing it to the windscreen ................
Can't remember if it was wiring or drum  blades that was reversed ... ...........
But a few heads were scratched before it was sorted out ...................

Re: SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc.

Only just got round to doing something to the van as work and life has been hectic, well..... it turns out a mate picked up a random alternator from a 2.0 for nothing for me and as luck would have it, it was almost the same as the valeo one in mines but larger(Pulley same size), so that's bodged straight on without any issue and is now charging things fine, following that I spent 3 hours with the dash stripped trying to fix the heater blower and indicators, I've managed to get the heater all working again using a relay from.. no idea, one I found in my box that was similarly rated and works lol.

Now though it appears I have indicators but no hazard warning lights, so I can only assume the indicator relay got slightly cooked as well?! - Everything else seems to be working now though!
